First let me say that this class had two professors, and Dr. Hall was definitely the worse of the two. His communication throughout the semester was consistently HORRIBLE, both with students and with the other professor. In fact, we did not have most of our major grades until the day after the final. The weighting on canvas was also incorrect, so don't rely on your canvas grade to tell you your grade, because they will switch up last minute and change it up. I emailed Dr. Hall throughout the semester and he basically never responded on time. Our other professor, Dr. Teuben, was better at communication but also not great. When we emailed Dr. Teuben asking where our grades were, he said he had done his half but was not able to get a hold of Dr. Hall for his half. Finally, Dr. Hall is a snobby Harvard kid who makes you feel stupid for asking any questions. Don't even bother asking him clarification questions on exams, he will just say to "do your best" despite his exam being poorly written. Many people in this class shared this sentiment. Do not take this class with Dr. Hall if possible. |

Professor Teuben seems very knowledgeable about Python, and he seems enthused about the course. I appreciated that he tried to include some astropy material since there were a lot of astronomy majors taking the course. Professor Teuben was very responsive with emails. |

Professor Hall seems to be very knowledgeable and he provided us with a basic level of coding knowledge. However, after exam 1 he switched us to complete paper exams as if we were CS majors. Yikes! Whenever I would ask a clarifying question during an exam, I got a very dismissive response as if I had just asked if Santa was real. There were a few assignments, some a month old, that weren't graded until after the final, which was pretty nerve-wracking since I had no clue where I stood in the class before the final. Overall, Professor Hall's class was like boiled chicken: tolerable, but you'd probably not pick it if you had the choice. |

This guy knows ball. He explain topics very clearly to those who have taken zero coding classes (like myself) in the past and answers any questions you may have about your code. He is very knowledgeable and great at explaining ideas. He does not give much work for the class as it is only one homework project per week which will not take more than a couple hours to complete. Very good professor, take him if you can. |
