Professor T was nowhere near as bad as these reviews make her out to be. She was always very engaging during class and the work for the class was not very difficult. She was always extremely kind and respectful, while making useful suggestions when needed. She was very encouraging and seemed to think very highly of her students during our conversations. Her instructions for exams and papers can be a bit vague, but she is happy to answer any questions that you might have. She goes out of her way to make herself available and help her students when they seek help, and she is very easy to work with. Her grading is a bit strict, but not beyond reason. I always understood why points were deducted, and her feedback was usually very useful for future papers. If you note her previous feedback and implement her suggestions in your papers, you will be fine. She may not give out 100s on papers, but it is still possible to consistently get As if you listen to her feedback and ask her for help if needed. The only reason I am not giving her five stars is because other classes are easier to do well in, but if you put in the effort and take the initiative, it is entirely possible to do well in her class. |

She is a very nice professor and seems to be very passionate about what she teaches. The curriculum and Canvas are very organized so you always know upcoming assignments and modules. She is a harsh grader, and sometimes the feedback she provides does not make much sense, even after you ask her. You can go to her office hours to help with an assignment, she will tell you it looks perfect, and then give you a B- on it. The TAs are also pretty harsh graders as well, especially for the mid-term and the discussion questions. Just make sure to come to class and participate each time. |

I loved this class and I learned a lot. I thought Prof T was a very fair and kind professor. Her classes were engaging and she was always willing to help people with assignments. I'm honestly shocked by these bad reviews! I'd recommend her for this class. |

Does not have sympathy for personal situations. You should expect to not have any grace from her when you have personal issues. |

She is extremely harsh when making comments and with grading. Se encourages students to be critical of their work but even if they are, she thinks we are not critical enough. Claims she cares about mental health but when the real time comes, she is not accommodating at all. She gets very defensive when we try to make your work better. In fact, she goes deeper into why your work is not up to par. It is extremely sad to be in en environment where your professor makes extremely negative comments about work instead of helping out. Her grading style of making us grade ourselves is not fair at all. She will come after you if you give yourself a grade you think you deserve even though that's the whole point of this grading style. She also said that "if [you guys] give yourself higher grades, you will be given a lower grade." How is that fair? It is hard to be around an environment where you professor puts you down instead of helping you rise. |

Assignments and expectations for this class are tedious and inconsistent with every other policy course at UMD. She's way too strict and provides critical and vague feedback that you can never perfect. If you ask her about it she'll get defensive and make you feel terrible about your work. The only reason I'm giving her two stars is because the lectures were engaging. If you can, I highly suggest taking PLCY-300 with a different professor. |

Class is well organized but teaching isn't great. Assignments are tedious are constantly implements self-refection before we've received any feedback on the assignment. Extremely rude when providing feedback and very nitpicky. |

She is pretty nice as a professor, but her grading can be pretty harsh and a bit overly critical and with attitude. Her feedback is nice, and her instructions are very clear and pretty strict, and her class is very organized, but it is a bit rough with the grading. If the TA grades, youd be fine, but you never know when she would decide to grade and tank your overall. She also grades for participation, which sucks at times, but is overall a pretty good professor in terms of lecturing. |
