Introduction to Neuroscience; Introduction to Neuroscience

Neuroscience is the study of how the nervous system provides perception of the world around us, plans and controls movement, and creates complex behaviors, memories, emotions, and thoughts. To start, you will learn about the nervous system's structure and how cells in the nervous system communicates with each other. We will examine our sensory capabilities and their roles in coordinated movement. You will see why sleep is so critical to emotional control, memory, and creativity. A major focus will be on the ability of the nervous system to change in structure and function throughout life. We will routinely discuss disorders of the nervous system to emphasize important concepts.
