Roberts is a fantastic professor who knows his material incredibly well and really, truly wants his students to become masters of it. The workload in 424 is huge, but it's incredibly manageable once you realize that you just have to read the book chapter and answer questions on it. The book chapters are on the long side, and the questions are tough, so if you start it the night before it's due, you're going to have a bad time. If you do the reading early, and come back to the worksheet the next day, you can do it in half the time. Working in a very large group (10 or so people) is a new experience for most people, and my group didn't really react well to it. Roberts makes the point that in the real world, you will sometimes have to work in large groups, but he doesn't effectively teach you how to do this. As a result, nobody does it right. This class is for the brave. If you take it, you'll do a lot of work, and you will become tangibly more powerful. More than any other class, you get out of it what you put into it -- while most other classes have a very limited set of outputs, this class seems almost limitless in how much you could obtain if you put in the work.

Absolutely amazing. Probably one of the best professors at the university. Although his class is challenging in the sense that there is a lot of work and you definitely have to earn your grade, his sytle of teaching and the topics he covers makes it beyond worth while. Everything he teaches is applicable and memberable, some of the things you learn you will realize how often you use it in everyday life which makes this class so exciting and easy!! If youre looking for a class that is interesting and fun TAKE THIS CLASS, or any other with Dr. Roberts!! But definitely be prepared to earn your grade!

Scott Roberts was an incredibly engaging professor, and I feel that he challenged students to gain a great deal of knowledge through his course structure. That being said, this course required way too much work. The large-group project requirements are rediculous, and the weekly worksheets can take hours. I would recommend it if you can put in the effort.
