Jonathan Fernandes STAT498J Expecting an A Anonymous 12/19/2023	This course is actually really interesting, primarily covering topics such as hierarchical models, markov chains, samplers, and poisson processes. Fernandes's lectures were pretty good in explaining the concepts in each of these topics. During the semester, he was also very flexible with due dates and exams (asked us when we wanted the midterm and when we want to turn in the take home final). Homeworks in this class weren't too bad, although Fernandes would sometimes put typos on his homeworks that would make them impossible to solve (he addressed this on elms or in class however). There are R projects and a final project in this course, both of which basically ask you to write code to simulate a concept learned in class. Overall, I'd recommend this course, but it does have room for improvement since its Fernandes's first time teaching it.
