Independent Study; The Iconography of Performance

This class will look at the iconography of performance from the earliest images of dance, music, and theatre performances to the advent of photography. Students will be asked to develop their own Digital Humanities projects examining issues related to the use of images in understanding performances in a historic period, with a goal of making these project accessible as works of public scholarship for museums and exhibitions. The class is designed to be taken in 1hr, 2hr, or 3hr units depending on what the students schedule allows and the complexity of the projects they wish to take on. 1 credit hour students will attend W? 4:00-4:50pm or as arranged by professor. 2 credit hours students will attend W 4:00-5:40pm or as arranged by professor 3 credit hours students will attend W 4:00-6:30pm or as arranged by professor For questions contact Frank Hildy at hildy@umd.edu.
