Jessica Mathiason WGSS280 Expecting an A Anonymous 06/02/2025	Fun class, but you are expected to watch a movie and write a tedious discussion post about it essentially every week on your own time, which was a huge time sink for me and generally unpleasant. A decent chunk of our grade was reliant on group projects which I also wasn't super happy about. Other than that, though, the content was interesting. We covered a lot of content, but it was done in such a way that you still felt like you got a good understanding of it. You don't have to be constantly contributing to class to get a good participation grade, too, so you could sit back in class and just watch as long as you spoke sometimes. The other students in the class were able to engage with the discussion prompts in a way that made discussion feel worthwhile. She is also a pretty lenient grader but still gives relevant feedback. In regards to the review that mentioned AI: When she left me comments on my discussion posts (which she only did sometimes, indicating that they required effort she would only put in sometimes), they were all accurate to the content I wrote about + the class content, so I don't think she used AI for them. Not sure what her thoughts on AI are, though.
Jessica Mathiason WGSS280 Expecting an A Anonymous 05/17/2025	She keeps the class very well structured and cares about the student. The class was fun since it was just a movie class and we got to talk about a lot of filmic elements. Only bad thing was my first essay but so many easy discussion posts, group projects and essays. 10/10 would recommend especially since only twice a week 50 minutes
