The only professor I would rate a 5. She is hands down my favorite professor. Basically the way her class runs is she assigns videos to watch before each class and you take notes on them at home. She then discusses them/answers any questions/plans activities with the material during class. I LOVED this method because it was on your own time. If you didn't watch the videos, it's not a big deal because she's not strict with Tophat (you can just work with a partner sort of) but you eventually have to watch them. The videos were slow and boring but they were very clear in explaining. Her videos drag because her dogs and cats interrupt the videos a lot, but her explanations are so clear. The videos allow you to take perfect notes because you can just rewind and listen over and over again. During class she plans interactive activities which will be useless to you if you didn't watch the videos beforehand. I strongly strongly suggest you watch them BEFORE the class. It's easy to leave them at the last minute because you'll end up with 20 videos the night before the test. The videos vary between 15-30 min so they're not super long. During class she also talks and tells stories and you'll never ever fall asleep during this class. Her stories and everything about the class is so interesting. Her tests are VERY reasonable. She gives you options on the tests like "Pick 2 out of the 4 to answer" so you don't have to know ALL the material and still do well if you blank out on a section. Everything about this class was SO fair. Her tests are 50 points so if you fail one you can still get an A. She drops one of the tests too. Her tests are short and fair, bordering easy. I wish all my classes were structured this way. I search for classes that she teaches even if I'm not interested in the material because I know she'll make it interesting. I strongly recommend this class to anyone and everyone. |

Dr. Black is a very nice person, and she is very knowledgeable about anatomy, but her tests are somewhat difficult unless you memorize every single word of her lectures and labs, which is difficult to do when you have many other classes to worry about at the same time. She is always willing to help you out, but you need to put forth a significant amount of effort in this class. |

Dr. Black is a great professor. She knows her stuff, and is extremely helpful during lectures and lab. I had some qualms about the dissection part of the class, but it turned out to be my favorite part. Its really fun and interesting once you get a hang of how to use the tools like the scalpel and probe. Study really hard for lab quizzes since they make up a significant part of your grade. Learn the locations and repeat the actions to yourself over and over and over again to commit them to memory. You'll find that while it is a lot of hard work to do well, the feeling of achievement in mastering anatomy is priceless! She does NOT curve. |

She is a really great teacher - her lectures are very interesting and her tests are straightforward. Even though anatomy is essentially just a lot of memorization, she made the material engaging. She is VERY helpful in the lab. It was my favorite class of the semester. |
