Professor MacDonald is a great professor! I found this topic very interesting and seemed both knowledgeable and passionate. There is a total of 10 writing assignments that are all about 2-3 pages. In addition to this, there are both a final and a midterm that are reading-focused. He does have a mandatory attendance policy, but I noticed that if he calls your name once that week, he most likely does not again. He posts all the lecture slides, which were my main source of studying. I never really did the readings, unless I wanted to pull an example for my writing. Keep in mind, he does not grade your essays; the TA does, and for the last couple of assignments, they have been harsh in grading compared to being calm at the beginning. However, you can ask him to review it, and sometimes he may alter your grade. Overall, the workload did not feel like much and I enjoyed learning about the topic! |

Took as a general education requirement. 65% of your grade is based on 12 writing assignments each being 2-3 pages double spaced. Midterm was simple and weighted low so do not rely on it to help your grade. Not a lot of room for error and I do not recommend taking if you do not like to write. Content is interesting but lectures were dry and not engaging. TA was responsive to clear up confusion with grading and give feedback. |

He is good lecturer and has a lot of information to give about the topics. However, if you want an easy A and don't like writing this isn't the class for you. This class's grades were almost completely based in 10 writing assignments throughout the semester and don't give you much of a chance to improve your grades in other ways. |
