I would definitely recommend taking this class with him. He is so knowledgeable and passionate about the material that he is able to make it interesting even if you're not majoring in the AREC field. He is a pretty lenient grader but definitely appreciates the effort you put into his class. The tests are a little long (75-100 questions) but he gives you enough time and resources to easily complete them.

Really nice professor!! He knows a lot about the material and is always eager to give his personal experience stories. The material itself can be a little boring, but the assignments are not very hard and exams are online. He responds quickly to emails and is very understanding. Pretty easy GenEd!

Dale is hilarious without trying to be. This class is an easy A and while the content can be really boring, he makes it entertaining for the most part. The workload is light to medium but he's a very lenient grader. He's super approachable and passionate about what he teaches. Would definitely recommend this class/professor.

Prof. Johnson makes this class light and easy going. He has alot of personal experience in the field so theres alot of first hand examples he gives in lectures. Hes a reasonable grader, tests are online, and the material isnt hard to grasp.

Our readings are wikipedia articles and he spends the whole class telling us about his son's 3d printers or his father or whatever. And then expects us to teach ourselves hard material. Impossible to get ahold of after class or even through email. Worse prof I have ever taken at UMD. BY FAR! I have never reviewed a prof until him so that should tell ya.

Professor Johnson is a good instructor. The class only met once a week, which was tough at times, but he gave breaks in the middle of the lecture. There are guest speakers, but most of the class consists of his lectures. The tests can be tough and require a lot of memorization. There is also a group project and pop quizes on most days. The key to this class is going to his reviews sessions. He is approachable and willing to review exam material before the tests. Even if you are not an AREC major, you will still learn a lot about small businesses in general and also learn a little bit about farming as well.
