He's a good professor and as long as you put in the effort to study for the exams, similar format but harder than the practice exams, you should get at least a B if you're not completely stupid. I believe the grade I received was without the curve, but I did have to work my butt for it especially since conceptual math does not come easy to me. Make sure to bank points on homework assignments, which was once every week and took around 1-2 hours. The TA's office hours were pretty helpful when it came to those and the professor's office hours helped in general, especially in preparation for the exams. There were 2 midterms, 1 final, 10 homework assignments, and 1 teamwork assignment. Also, the midterms allowed a cheat sheet (front and back) and the final was open-note. If you took AP Stats in high school, you should do fine! I took it senior year but I had a horrible teacher, but it still helped me with understanding some concepts. There was a lot of Excel and R we learned, but it's honestly not too bad and it's overall important to know. Lecture was so boring but I was glad I got it done in the mornings, just make sure to stay up to date on your notes. You'll do fine, don't worry. |

I would definitely recommend Professor Ryzhov!! As someone who didn't like AP Stats in high school, this class was really enjoyable. The professor explains everything thoroughly and his practice tests are REALLY similar to his exams so they are easy to prepare for. The second midterm was a little difficult though, so watch out for that. He has weekly homework assignments (weighted very heavily) and they are graded for accuracy so I would recommend going to his TA office hours for extra help. If you put in the effort to go to office hours and ask questions, you can definitely get an A in this class. |

This class will be fine as long as you put in a little bit of effort. Concepts aren't difficult to grasp and tests are fairly simple due to the prep provided. The practice exams given are exactly the same format and cover the same topics as the actual exam. You're also allowed a cheat sheet during the exams. Final grade is also curved at the end. I recommend if you're willing to put in a little bit of work and attend office hours as needed. |

This class is not an easy A, but if you put in the work you will receive at least an A-. You will learn how to use Excel and R since we do not use a calculator in the class, but he will provide enough examples during class that it isn't that crazy to follow through with but maybe at first. Excel was really easy for me, but R was annoying but I eventually liked it. Also, R is great to know and you aren't tested on it- meaning you don't have to write out R code on the exams, but definitely know how to interpret it. The practice exams are formatted EXACTLY like the actual exams but maybe a bit harder. Including, one page of notes (front and back) is allowed for the midterms, but the final is completely open note. However, go to the professor's office hours because he is willing to help you out and I had a good TA, so that helped with the homework. Don't worry, if you have taken statistics in high school- you'll be fine. But, if you expect an A to just pop up, good luck. This is a outline of the course: one homework assignment every week (2-3 hours), 2 midterms and 1 final, and a group assignment. |

This class honestly isn't too hard. There is only one assignment due per week with like 6 questions but the assignments do take really long to do. There are two midterms each with a one page cheat sheet. The first midterm is pretty easy, almost exactly like the practice test he provides. BEWARE, the second midterm is significantly harder, so make sure you study a bit more for that one. The final is open note. His lectures are sometimes kinda boring but he does a good job at explaining. Also go to his office hours because he will give you the homework answers and walk you through how to do the problems. Overall a pretty chill class, if you show up and do your work you will be fine. |

the only reason I feel bad for giving her one star is because she's a nice lady, but other than that bruh... nah. This class was actually kind of insane, I swear I was falling asleep like every time I was in her class, even if I tried to pay attention. HORRIBLE at teaching I tell you. It's clear she understands what she's talking about but she can't get the message across. I never went to office hours but allegedly they help... take that with a grain of salt bc the guy who went was lowk still struggling a bit. I also don't study but I've taken AP Stats before and I understood it so well... but I swear she made me soooooooooooooooooooooooooo confused, it made more sense to block her out and ask our friend ChatGPT (I'm not even that big of a chat user but this class changed me for the worse). The assignments are ridiculous and we're always using excel which is like kind of fine but then for exams you had to memorize the formulas which I think is pretty stupid bc for the final she wanted actual values and not excel... idk bruh. We also had this team assignment with over 700k data......... no words. Made all of our computers crash multiple times, took ages to do and was just really annoying. Even if I actually understood what she was saying, I look away for 5 seconds and look back, and I'm lost. There's no saving you in this class. Just don't take it. You'll regret it. I do :D Doesn't provide answer keys for practice exams so you just have to compare with classmates, ask ChatGPT, and hope you're right. We were all struggling together which was kind of funny ngl but everyone sort of just gave up after the first exam. First exam was chill, average was a B- but then the average for the second exam was a D- and she put up a histogram of our grades, told us it was skewed left and that we needed to study more... lol. There are also participation points and quizzes which were annoying and fast paced (especially since it all went in one ear and out the other BUT I WAS TRYING I SWEAR). She also always asked questions but it wasn't clear what kind of answer she wanted. A number? A phrase? Another question? Beats me dude. And she started to get mad at us because no one rose their hands or answered questions so it was like she was just talking to herself. also never saw the TA until she proctored for one of the exams so I feel like this class may or may not just set you up for failure : / xoxo never again |

DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!! This entire semester has been one long horror story of every possible way a professor can disappoint. Lectures were less than useless, the TA did nothing, assignments had no connection to the slides, and she didn't even provide answers to her own study guides. Everything I learned in this class, I learned from ChatGPT and YouTube. I have to drink so much caffeine just to not snooze through the most boring hour of my week, and when she calls on you to answer a question, it's never even clear what she's asking. She's a nice woman, but she should never be trusted to teach a class again. |

I had Ryzhov last semester and did not know what to expect because there was only one two-star review. I was pleasantly surprised when taking the course. The exams are fair, formula sheet allowed, and very similar to the practice. The final exam was fully open-note. Medians for exams hover around 70-80%, and the final exam had a median of 82. Ryzhov is a good lecturer and explains concepts in depth. There was one assignment a week, and one team project, which all took around 2-3 hours to complete. I would highly recommend. |

He's a good professor and gives pretty good lectures. The exams are very fair and are similar to the practice exams he gives out. He lets you have a cheat sheet for the midterms and the final is open notes. The homework may take a little time but if you go to a TA you should be fine. |

Sujin Kim, where do I begin. How about a testimonial speech and dissertation on how boring your class is. FYI, if your reading this, any class she teaches 9.9999999/10 it will be boring and you will be bored out of your mind. However she gets two stars instead of only one because she is quite friendly and nice in terms of interactions about the work, exams, in class discussions. However what also lands her a 2 star is she writes verbatim on all of her exam guides "THE ACTUAL EXAM MAY INCLUDE MORE QUESTIONS WITH CHALLENGING PROBLEMS. SOLUTIONS FOR THESE PRACTICE PROBLEMS WILL NOT BE PROVIDED". Why would you ever do this to students, I don't know why, but expect to learn majority of the material by yourself. |

He's a good person and a decent professor, but his lectures are really boring and difficult to understand. The homework is also very hard; you will spend hours completing it, and you will most likely attend office hours every week for them. He will help you if you attend his office hours, but the class is just not worth it. The regular class is a lot easier compared to this one. You won't be allowed to use a calculator on the exams and your answers have to be in Excel formulas. |

This class and professor are just not it. The normal business statistics class is so much better. Sure, you learn a bit of how to use Excel and R, but most of it you learn on your own. You will spend hours upon hours every week working on homework, and if you don't go to office hours every week and do not have friends in the class, good luck you have no chance. Ryzhov basically enjoys your failure in your class. Exams are hard and average is always below 70% with a bit of a curve, but it's gonna tank your grade every time. Most important thing is there are only letter grades in this class, no plus or minus, no rounding, nothing. This is GPA tanker and if you are in honors, don't take this it's not worth it. |
