BMGT298K is a cool course in theory, but there were no lectures. This semester it was a 6 week course. Each week we had to complete a discussion post and an assessment. We would watch a 5-15 minute video from Dr. McMillan, but other than that there was no communication with the professor. I feel like I have slightly more knowledge of personal finance, but it could have been executed much better. Instead of being taught how to succeed successfully, the assignments focused on finding articles explaining how the prepare for success after college. This course has a lot of potential but was not executed the way it should have been.

I chose to take this class because it seemed like an easy A for only a few weeks. It turned out to be more work than expected. The assignments were confusing and did not relate to the goal of developing personal finance skills. Be prepared to write lengthy discussion posts. Also, it was hard to communicate with the professor.

This is an asynchronous, 5-week course that I thought was kind of useful. Each week there is a short video and a powerpoint posted about the topic for the week. There are also weekly discussion board posts where you review an article related to the lecture and you have to write a minimum of 500 words post. You also have to respond to two other posts using with a minimum of 100 words each. Additionally, there are weekly assignments that are graded on accuracy, which was kind of difficult because some of the math related questions were worded weird and he never responded to any of my emails. If you already have taken BMGT340, you should be fine, but if not it some of the questions would be pretty challenging. However, to be clear, most of the questions were conceptual and not computational.
