Jinyoung Sohn
BMGT364N Expecting an A- Anonymous 12/13/2025 |
Dr. Sohn is kind and understanding, that is why she is getting 2 stars. As a dietetics student, this class was required, but I have no idea why. It did not teach me anything that wasn't just common sense: motivating people, being respectful of situations, etc.. There is so much busy work and somethings aren't even relevant to organizational business. I also was hoping that the dietetics students would get a little more leeway, seeing as we don't have any previous knowledge on business things. But no, in fact, on the first day, Dr. Sohn was unaware she was teaching the section. For an organizational business class, Dr. Sohn was far from organized. The amount of times due dates were changed, either being bumped up or bumped back, without notifying students, was frustrating. I also think it is unacceptable for a professor say to students "You guys did really well on the midterm with the average being an 83%, therefore I must make your final exam harder." Why can't professors be happy that their students have retained 83% of the content and scored well. In addition, instead of making the final harder, why not take away the double sided pull page cheat sheet. I was shocked when we were allowed to have that much content on a cheat sheet. At that point, make it a take home exam with lockdown browser and let us use the textbook, which is where everything comes from anyway. I asked how to study for the exam, and I was basically told just read the textbook, and I was reading that textbook and still scored poorly. I believe it is ridiculous that the nutrition/dietetics majors are held to the same standard as the business students who have had multiple classes on these topics before. I felt like I was at a severe disadvantage, and nothing was done to remedy this. I also think having participating in research as a part of our grade is a silly was to get participants. If participants are, what feels like being coerced into a study, they are less likely to answer truthfully. I understand there is a makeup assignment, but it is not as easy as going to participate in a study. I also feel someone like me, a dietetics major, would definitely skew data because I have no previous knowledge of business. All in all, I do not feel this class was a necessary part of my learning and much needs to be improved. |

Wellman is a brilliant, fun, and interesting man and teacher. He legitimately cares about his students and has funny little quirks that end up being endearing. His exams are pretty rough, you really have to remember everything you cover so if you have a good memory you'll be fine, but if you're a person that has to learn through repetition or comprehension start studying early. Don't expect an A, but DO EXPECT TO COME OUT FEELING LIKE YOUVE TAKEN SOMETHING FROM THE CLASS. I've definitely learned more from this class than most of my other SEMESTERS as a whole. |

Class is made interesting by relating the text material to real life experiences and cases. Be sure to pay attention and take detailed notes on the videos because his tests can be very detailed oriented. Overall, informative class, and fair workload. |
