Selected Topics in Criminology and Criminal Justice; Digital Forensics

An introduction to the methods used in the seizure and forensic analysis of computers, cell phones, and other digital evidence. Students will be familiarized with the use of digital evidence in criminal investigations, relevant case law in computer crime and digital evidence, and the challenges faced by law enforcement. Students will be introduced to the computer forensic tools used by today's law enforcement agencies and basic computer / data storage concepts. This course will include some basic practical application of these tools and concepts in a computer lab environment.
