Selected Topics in Criminology and Criminal Justice; Forensic Investigations in the Criminal Justice System

In this course we will define and describe the scope of forensics and discuss reasons why and how forensics provides sound scientific evidence. This course explains methodologies and limits of psycho- diagnosis and the contributions of psychopathology to criminal behavior. Students will apply the multidisciplinary approach to forensic science and discuss special areas of abuse including child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, elder abuse and sexual assault. We will also describe and discuss the legal standards and practices in the prosecution of cases involving forensic science application.
