Career Exploration and Development
This course is for students in the TerpsEXCEED program and is required for students fall semester of their freshman year as a precursor to CHSE489: Internship. The course is built on a career scaffolding structure, starting with exploration and discovery, to prepare students for on-the-job fieldwork and internship experiences in future semesters. It provides the students with the essential competencies to success in finding a job and to thrive in their chosen career. Through interactive activities and assignments, students will learn about themselves as potential employees, careers they are interested in exploring, their skills set and how it applies to various careers, and the job search and application process. They will develop technical and soft skills to improve employability and success on the job. Instructional methods include both classroom-based and experiential learning.
