Class is easy and Meredith, Amy, and Betsy are very kind. Its a great experience to be able to provide support for students with intellectual disabilities and learn about being inclusive. You do have to contribute 3 hours every week (45 a semester) of support for the students which can get challenging especially if you're a commuter or have a lot of assignments for other classes, so keep that in mind. You also get a level 1 peer mentor certification if you complete all the hours.

Everyone in college should take this class. You work directly with students with intellectual disabilities and make very meaningful connections that open your eyes to people with experiences different than your own. The technology aspect in this class could use a lot of work and could be more efficient but other than that the best class I took in college.

Meredith is by far the best professor at UMD. She is very approachable, understanding, and organized. She leads her class in such a way that promotes learning through experiences. Everything you learn in class, you're able to immediately take into the real world and implement through your fieldwork portion of the course. You don't learn a bunch of useless information that you'll never use. She also makes this class enjoyable by grounding our knowledge through various means which can include things like kahoots, group discussions, menti, etc... A lot of this class is whole group activities and discussions that promote problem solving and allow you to connect and build friendships with a lot of your classmates. Outside of class, you do have fieldwork, but it is done on campus in collaboration with the TerpsEXCEED program and time is incorporated into the course for you to complete this (ex. less homework/classwork is given so you have more time to do your fieldwork). The work and homework in this class is extremely manageable and Meredith gives us so much class time to get our homework done. Also, longer/harder assignments are broken down into smaller pieces that are completed over the course of the semester so they don't stress you out. There were two exams in this class, they were super easy and if there was a confusing question for the whole class we often went over it together. The grading for this course is pretty lenient and extremely fair. The entire teaching team was very accessible and approachable to answer any questions and often responded extremely quickly when reaching out. Overall, this was probably the best course and experience of my college career and I could not recommend EDSP311 or Meredith more highly to anyone. Absolutely take this class if you're able to!

I absolutely love professor Gramlic. In the beginning of the semester she tells her students that she prefer's to go by first name because she see's us all at colleagues and she lives up to that. She will support you and ensure that you are successful in the class and will guide you through your field experience. EDSP311 was probably my easiest class this semester. She and her TA's have organized the course and assignments to be super easy and applicable to your field experience. TAKE THIS CLASS, become a peer mentor and support inclusion in campus.

Meredith Gramlich is a good prof. Working with the TerpsEXCEED was fun. You learn a lot of life applicable skills. There is weekly readings that is tedious, but you get by by reading the summary/abstract. You finish most of your homework in class. You are required to provide 3 support hours towards students with disability per week. If you sign up for every week tutoring and every week 1.15 min class and some extra meetings, you are set. You make so many friends from this class. Easy A.

EDSP311 is a great program for you to learn about disability inclusion, actually get to talk to and provide support to students with disabilities. Plus, this is a class where you get to meet a lot of new people. The homework load is pretty calm and she gives you a lot of time to do it in class. The exams are really easy.

This was a great and informative class if you want to learn more about disability and inclusion in higher education such as here at UMD. This class, the work is mainly to support TerpsEXCEED students during the week and there is not too much homework. Highly recommend if you care about how to help students with disabilities on campus and overall a fun/not stressful class.

Great professor and truly cares about all of her students. Whether they are a mentee or mentor Professor Meredith always goes the extra mile in order to know her students. The class runs smoothly most of the time. There are technical difficulties in the class sometimes and student discussions could be more encouraged. The course is still lecture heavy, but maybe discussions and more opportunities to participate could be helpful. The surveys are great to keep track of progress, but they often don’t allow students to fully express themselves.

I absolutely adore Professor Gramlich! This class is so interesting, and she is a phenomenal professor. The class is organized extremely well, and she teaches very relevant and useful information regarding things like disability history, Universal Design, inclusivity, disability rights, and disability legislation. There is a service learning element to the course, and it works so well within it! Professor Gramlich is extremely responsive to emails, she is encouraging, and she is caring. She adjusts her teaching to student needs and suggestions, and makes the workload in class manageable. She often has a lot of interesting anecdotes and videos to show us related to disability, and it makes lectures so fun. There are lots of class discussions and most of the work is done outside of class, so just manage your time well! It is extremely easy to do well and even get extra credit. 100% cannot recommend her or this class enough.

Kind, welcoming, and understanding are adjectives that best describe this professor. She gives thoughtful feedback and is willing to give extensions if you ask ahead of time. She genuinely cares about the students and want her students to succeed. She gives her students advice such as self-advocacy and does a great job educating the content. She makes the content engaging and fun. Most content is learned outside of class so make sure you keep up with the assignments and activities in each module. Best teacher you will come across throughout your college experience!

Professor Gramlich is a very kind, understanding, and welcoming professor. If I'm being honest I barely heard anyone refer to her as professor Gramlich everyone referred to her as Meredith. She is very understanding and if you need an extension for an assignment she is very willing to give it to you as long as you ask ahead of time. She welcomes student feedback on how she can improve her teaching and she lives very positive feedback on assignments which can be very encouraging. Obtaining extra credit is easy if you give a thorough and thoughtful response to questions on assignments or quizzes given she will give you extra credit for the question. She truly cares about the students and cares about your success she gives a lot of advice as well as promoting self-advocacy! Highly recommend her she will be the nicest teacher you come across.

I was a first-year student who switched into this class at the very last minute, so I was really behind on already missed assignments. However, Meredith was very accommodating and she practice what she preaches (as we learn about Universal Design for Learning) when she teaches. You can tell that she really cares about the course content. If you're unsure about something, she is very approachable takes into account student feedback. The workload is very doable as long as you just do it! You got this :)
