COMM458E

Seminar in Political Communication; How Do Citizens Communicate?

This seminar focuses on the role of ordinary citizens in political communication. We focus on local practices of democracy, especially in the College Park area, as we think about how citizens develop democratic habits such as public advocacy, trust, stranger sociability, deliberation, reciprocity, empathy, and more. Students observe local community life and interview community members to see these democratic habits in practice.
