EDSP289I Expecting an A+ Anonymous 12/26/2020 |
(Disclaimer: had during fall 2020 virtual semester) The activities were not hard for the class and the TAs graded very generously (many assignments had a low score of 100%). We only had to attend class on Tuesdays. My only complaint is that she often didn’t post assignments until the last minute and grading took a long time. Besides that, I had no issue. She was very responsive to student concerns and often pushed back deadlines. It’s a fun and not too challenging gen ed in my opinion. |

Could not agree more with the previous comment. I had more work for this class with this professor than all of my other classes combined and it's an elective. She grades sooooooo hard and makes the class a terrible environment. Do not recommend |

OH MY GOD THE ACTUAL DUMBEST TEACHER IVE EVER HAD. HER ASSIGNMENTS ARE GARBAGE AND SHE GRADES LIKE A NAZI. THIS IS AN ELECTIVE COURSE AND THE AMOUNT OF WORK I PUT IN TO ONLY RECEIVE AN A- IS ABSURD. FOR SOMEONE WHO TEACHES A CLASS ABOUT DISABILITIES, SHE REALLY DOESNT GIVE A SINGULAR FUCK ABOUT GRADING LENIENTLY OR NOT. THIS CLASS IS D U M B. TAKE IT WITH LEONE BECAUSE HES MORE FAIR AND A LOT SMARTER. SHE GAVE US A QUIZ WITH A LOCKDOWN BROWSER BUT SAID IT WAS OPEN NOTES????? ALSO THE OTHER SECTION DIDNT HAVE A LOCKDOWN BROWSER SO LIKE YEAH THATS FAIR OK. |

The course is pretty easy. Weekly readings, films, and podcasts to listen to. Course material was interesting, and the small quizzes are fair as long as you read and do the work. Only downside is if you have TAs that grade more harshly than Dr. Leone himself. The papers and presentation assignments are not easy, but nothing to stress about. |

The course is easy in the sense that there isn't a lot of brainwork involved in the class. However, this class is not an easy A because TA's take off points for the pettiest things such as "confusing" grammar and not specifying something that they never talked about in class. You basically have to suck up to the Professor and TA's in order to do well. The class is poorly organized and the weight of assignments are ridiculous because they never match the true value of the assignments (a kahoot quiz that takes 3 minutes will be a higher value than a two page assignment). I despise this class and would not recommend it to anyone. |

Easy course, interesting lectures, but had poor organization, which meant that often times we sometimes did nothing in class, or had 2-3 assignments due within a week. It was not a joke class like I was expecting, and did have to work a bit for some assignments. Often times, the grading scales felt odd, or unfair. For example, many ~2-3 page assignments were a measly 2 points, while simultaneously, I've lost 2 points for not including a specific statistic on my term paper (not mentioned on the rubric at all). Lots of busy work given as well. Not my favorite class to take in the slightest. |

Intensity: 3 continuous hours offline and probably 1- 2 hours online every time(In summer school). Gaining: Amazing content. Eye-opening. World view redefining. Super nice and helpful professor. Lots of readings, videos watching, discussions and guest lecturers. Snacks were offered every day(she was a fantastic baker) Grading: 200 in total and A- if lower than188(High risk of A- for international students). Every detail counts.Good English required(got about 4-5 points lost because of my English). If you are really interested in cultural classes and are interested in America culture and history, strongly recommended; Just for credit taking? there are lots of other courses from which you can easily get an A+/ A |
