Special Topics in Environmental Science and Technology; Green Technologies for Watershed Enhancement

An advanced course on green technologies, waste treatment and utilization, and ecological-based green technologies. Principles of ecological design will be reviewed, with an overview of biologically-based waste treatment systems, water quality parameters, and implementation of green technologies. Concepts covered include ecology, ecological engineering, nutrient cycling, wastewater treatment, wetland treatment, leach fields, anaerobic digestion, composting, stream restoration, LEED certification, green walls, green roofs, living machines, rain gardens, bioswales, and algal turf scrubbers.
