Mme. Colucci's a great prof. She's enthusiastic and welcoming, which are probably the main attributes you want out of an intro French teacher. She's willing to help after or outside of class, and her grading's impressively quick. The Lingro for this course is terrible, but that's not her fault. The idea of making you practice daily is understandable too. The execution just sucks. Grading was very lenient. Late work was usually allowed too, especially with the Lingro. If you have something come up, she's willing to hear you out and let you make stuff up. If you show up daily having done the Lingro, you should be good to go. Most of the in-class time involves group activities where we shared responses after. Each class starts with a 5question multiple choice quiz that is usually very easy. There are a few writing assignments over the semester, but you can bring a note sheet, so it is super easy. There are also a few speaking assignments, but only the final exam is at all scary because it is a different professor, although another 103 professor so someone who will be reasonable. The salon culturel was laid back and included an extra credit opportunity.

Mme. Colucci is so fun and encouraging! Learning french at the college level is difficult, especially if you have to previous experience with the language and she was very forgiving of this. If you are confused about something, go to tutoring or office hours and she will explain it perfectly. I looked forward to this class everyday and it flew by because it was so fun. Highly recommend!!

Highly recommend. She is engaging and fun. Sometimes she has bad days, and she also doesn't always answer her emails, but I recommend her as a French instructor. FREN103 is hard, but very doable. Do "lingro" homework ahead of time so that you know what is going on in class. The oral final was easy as it was exactly the questions we were given to study.

Dr. Muravchik is a very kind person, and she knows how to teach a beginning French language course. Our class had a professor switch, and she picked right up almost as if nothing happened. I felt like I was able to learn a lot in the short period of time I had her as a professor, and her feedback helped my pronunciation so I felt a lot more prepared for the final. If I was taking FREN203, I would definitely take it with her!

Absolutely amazing, and so sweet! Super helpful when it came to concepts I struggled with, and lenient with assignment due dates-she's the best.

Dr. Stinson was my favorite language teacher I have ever had. She is very kind and super understanding. Not a harsh grader and she wants you to succeed. Made class fun and interesting (as much as a 100 level French class could be). Highly recommend taking French with her, she also teaches 203 as well.

He really wants you to learn and keeps you busy in class. He can be a bit funny without trying. Hes a generous grader and overall sets an environment that makes it easy to learn and understand. I only took this class because i needed 4 credits but ended up really enjoying the class!

This guy is probably one of the worst professors in the French department. Do not take his class!

Richard is very friendly and understanding professor. For those learning French for the first time, his lessons are very helpful and I would recommend taking him. He teaches class in a mix of English and French, and lessons are taught at a reasonable pace. There is a fair bit of homework assigned, but it's all due the same time each week making and pretty manageable. If you show up willing to learn and participate, you'll do well in his class.

Madame Marie is the reason I chose to do a French minor. I built my entire spring semester schedule around being able to take her class. She is quite possibly one of the most amazing professors I have ever had. Not only is she kind, caring, and compassionate; she is also incredibly knowledgeable in her field. Her transparency and understanding with students singles her out as a professor, and her classroom environment is a safe and comfortable place. I cannot recommend her enough.

Learning another language is a lot of work. There's homework due everyday before class starts, 5 chapter exams, 2 speaking assignments with a partner, a group project, daily clicker quizzes, and a speaking final. But Madame Robinson tried her best to make the class fun, and was definitely understanding about deadlines or other issues that may come up. Overall, the class is a lot of fun especially if you want to learn some French, but be prepared to do a lot of work.
