Professor Frisch is a great professor if you get on her good side. Since our class was online, she only made us meet once a week. No midterm or final exam, and only one assignment every two weeks. She made the class very reasonable and enjoyable as long as you paid attention and tried your best. A bit of a tough grader, but nothing crazy unreasonable.

Good class overall. Madame Frisch really knows her French literature (she's the director of graduate studies) and can really bring out some ideas that aren't so easy to grasp at first. Her 1 point online quizzes consist of 25% of the final grade. All you have to do is get 25 points even if that takes 30 or 35 quizzes. The midterm is definitely doable especially if you understand the review sheet. There are two essays (one worth 20% and the other worth 25% of your final grade) that are graded extremely hard. However, you get a chance to redo them for a higher grade. I assume the final is the same format as the midterm. Both are worth 15% of the final grade. Overall it's a good introduction to French literature from a teacher that really knows what she's talking about. However, since she really knows the course material so well, and can present it so well in French, not a lot of students feel comfortable participating with their broken French when trying to answer deep questions about Montaigne or Voltaire.
