Special Topics - M.A. Level; Nuclear Futures: Theorizing Environmental Humanities for thePost-Fukushima Age

This seminar interrogates the concept of futurity in the context of environmental activism and artistic engagement with atomic issues from 1945 to the present, focusing on Germany and Japan. We will engage with theoretical developments in the environmental humanities, including readings on the Anthropocene, precarity, and neoliberal capitalism. The course draws on a wide range of written materials and media, including personaltestimonies, poetry, fiction, film, manga, music, performance and documentation of protests. Taught in English.
