Dr. Lu is a kind and caring soul with a lot of chaos and fun within. She's flexible to needs, all major assignments have a built-in two week revision period/extension, and she even said she'd be willing to go further if you talk to her about it. Class was part discussion, part lecture, and sometimes had a little activity. She was good at assessing the vibe and giving breaks as needed. I loved her short story choices as well. I love her so much as a professor. I took Storywork with her as my 106 class, and I had so much fun. One short story (or film) + an academic reading or two + a discussion board per week, along with a major assignment per unit (3 total), and a whole class group project throughout. It wasn't a super heavy workload although those major assignments WILL creep up on you. Some of the academic readings are rough, but I think she knows that. Just be engaged and put in an effort and she will meet halfway. Like the 105 people say, yes, she talks a lot, and a significant chunk is about her personal life, but at least in Storywork it was mostly at least tangentially related to the short story or the discussion we were having about it. I never found it to be dry or boring, even if probably more than I should know about a professor's life (I love drama though so I had a great time.) |

Ze is nice and has a good humor, but takes their material very seriously for a class that you can't transfer out of. Furthermore, for the reading reflections that we did, it felt like the rubric changed mid-year. The same quality paper could be graded two different ways. Frustrating. They take this class very seriously. Expects you to read 30 dense pages before every class. Don't seem to understand that typically DCC classes aren't be the hardest courses of a semester. Like they're trying to campaign for the most knowledge stuffed in students' brains, but at what cost? Also some guidelines for the assignments were so vague and seemed to already expect you to understand what it was asking, and then even after clarifying still leaving you will an opaque understanding of the assignment. They're teaching freshmen at a graduate level, and they don't give them the needed grace. An example paper, especially on the source paper would be great. Would go to a lecture by zim, but I wouldn't take anything graded. If you take this instructor, make sure that you treat this like it's a major class and ze's the only person you can ask for a reference, otherwise just take someone else. |

Is a very demanding professor and requires a lot of high level academic readings that were very confusing and wordy. I understand we are honors, but she gave 50 page readings over than span of two days. Can be a harsh grader and picky at times, but you must participate in discussion to get a good grade. |

He is such a sweet, caring, and flexible professor! This was his first semester teaching 106 (he also teaches 208) and because of that we kind of got to dictate how the class went. It was only a few projects and the deadlines were not super bad or strict. Also, it might be intimidating to take this class if you haven't played an instrument before or you haven't really used GarageBand, but trust me it was beginner friendly and a lot of creative freedom and fun!!! Take him and this class! |

I had Professor Golub for the DCC Prototyping class. The class itself was interesting, in my opinion. However, the professor spent a lot of time going on tangents, so at some points it took us a long time to get through the material, or it was hard to pay attention to it. The projects themselves were fun, but I think they were somewhat repetitive. The professor was nice and liked talking to the students, especially in a smaller class like this, so that was a nice environment. Overall, I would recommend the class, even if it can be boring at some times. |

A very understanding professor who truly cares about his students. He offers lots of opportunity for group work and opportunities for students to engage rather than just being lectured at. Can be a little hard on grading, but nothing unfair. |

An amazing professor who truly understands the nuisances of student life. Frequent readings for homework but they were interesting and useful for the topic being discussed. I highly recommend. |
