This professor is a kind woman. She unfortunately is going through some health issues, however I cannot ignore the fact that the entire class was neglected this semester due to this. She would take weeks to upload slides, she did not curve the exam when the average was a 70, (if you're in HESP you know its usually a minimum of 80 for an average in any HESP class), she has had no leniency with anyone at all. She also claims to care about professionalism mainly and states to give her 24 hours to respond to emails, which is reasonable, except when you make the entire course online and have a project due to 2 days and questions that had still not been answered. She responded to my second email with what I took as attitude, which made her seem unapproachable to me for the remainder of the semester. We have an entire class filled with students who honestly are not confident about the final that we are taking tomorrow, she would not allow the ta to give us the kahoot that she made as study material either. the ta said she would address it to her and the professor sent a tiny one line email in regards to an entire class filled with complaints. This is arguably one of the most important classes for undergrad considering majority of us will go into fields with children, so to be brushed off by her and the entire department is absolutely insane to me. I feel for what she's going through but just because something happened to her does not mean the entire class should suffer as well.

She’s a nice professor and wants you to understand the course information, but at first she’s definitely intimidating and can seem brash. She’s a little disorganized in her slides and doesn’t have the canvas page set up very well, but overall it’s an interesting course and I enjoyed learning in it

literally awful. she’s so rude. i don’t understand why she’s a professor because she clearly doesn’t like her students or enjoy it. she’s not a nice person and will purposely make you feel stupid. avoid her if you can, but unfortunately, if you’re a hesp major, you might not be able to.

I had Skinker for an entry level HESP class and really enjoyed her. I was excited to have her for 400, however I was very disappointed in her teaching this semester. She never posted a class schedule and would always change up the syllabus. She would also get mad anytime anyone asked a question and just acted like she didn’t want to be there. The class felt very unorganized, she didn’t know how to have Canvas show our overall grade and took forever to grade things and didn’t respond to emails. It is now 12/24 and we still do not have our final project grade or final overall grade. The class is overall easy and straight forward, but I think they need a more organized and patient professor.

Professor Skinker will have organized ppt, but the information is not the most exciting, and she knows it. She does her best to tech it in a manner that at least makes it interesting. Her quizzes were mainly online, until the last one which was in class, but that was due to her feeling the class was not grasping the concept she was teaching. Not sure if that was on the part of her teaching or us as a class. Instead of a final, we had a major project due at the end of the semester. All of the homework correlated with the information given in class, just make sure to take good notes because she requires you do so via an actual notebook and not your computer.

Honestly terrible. If you have the option, do not take a class with her. She is really rude and not responsive at all to student questions and will demean people in the class rather than trying to understand what they are talking about. Truly terrible and should not be a professor.

Kate is always all over the place, but being online makes it worse. The lectures were discombobulated, but everything is relatively easy and straightforward except for the final project. I felt unprepared to do such a large and time consuming final project since there were few assignments due before this and the feedback was not helpful. No need to buy the textbook, she posted all the sections you need.

Professor Thompson seems to be very knowledgeable about the practice of speech-language pathology. However, she is not very responsive or constructive in answering students' questions or concerns, and is often defensive when students express the need for clarification. Her expectations and instructions across similar assignments were unclear and inconsistent as the requirements for assignment changed from interaction to interaction with her. Prepare for your questions to be answered with "It's in the syllabus," or "It's in the book/readings."
