The professor is engaging and is a good lecturer and makes coming to class worthwhile despite the lecture slides posted for each day. There are weekly readings with a discussion post and reply about them due each week (33%), a discussion section where attendance is taken (12%), 2 essays during the semester (15% each), and a final exam with two short essays responding to questions (20%). The discussion posts/sections are basically guaranteed full points unless you don't do them which is a nice cushion on top of the fairly generous grading for essays. Only thing to note is that the professor does not check her emails outside of work hours and doesn't give extensions so start on the papers in advance to get all the questions in before the weekend. |

This is genuinely my favorite class I have taken at this university, Dr. Keane is the kind of professor every student dreams of having. Her lectures are fun and engaging, her assignments are creative, and she always lends her topics this remarkable weight and seriousness since the subject matter is really important, but in a way that never feels overwhelming. |

Dr. Keane is an excellent professor and is very passionate about the topics that she teaches. This class focuses on women's history, and it really goes into depth and explains a lot of things that I had never considered or learned about, despite being a history major. The class is really important in my opinion and Dr. Keane made showing up to class a real treat. Very engaging lectures, discussion attendance was mandatory and participation is a big part of your grade. Class was 2 essays, 3-4 pages each, and a final. |

This has been my favorite class I've ever taken here. The professor is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about women's history. You will learn more about American history and women's history more in this class than you ever have before. She includes all sides of the story, including LGBT, African American, Immigrant, White, Low-income, High-income, etc. Not only is she an amazing professor, she also has taught me things I will carry with me for the rest of my life. The class consists of weekly discussion posts and readings, 2 essays, and a final. My one stipulation is the TA graded a little too harsh for a 200 level class and grades on essays came a little later than I would've liked. |

OMG Best class ever! I loved it so so so sooooo much. Theres like next to no work, just two short essays which were like only 2 pages long and a final! totally take it hehehehe. Reading material is quite short and concise so it takes no time at all. Great class for comm majors and history majors alike. I LUVVVVVV this professor! Wears a mask during lecture so considerate! |

As a history major, I absolutely loved this class. Professor Muncy is a wonderful professor and lecturer and is clearly interested and passionate about the material. She was very engaging with her students and made eye contact with everyone, piecing them in to every little detail as she went on. She is very light-hearted and expressed her joy and love for us - which you don't hear from professors much. She truly wanted everyone to succeed and enjoy women's history. This course is set up with 2 written exams - a midterm and a final - which are composed of ID terms and an essay. Study guides are given out, so as long as you spend time with that, you will have no problem. You will also have 2 independent writing assignments, ranging from 3-7 pages in length. Every class period you are expected to write the main points of the lecture and a question you still have on a piece of paper and turn it in for points. Professor Muncy then goes over the most asked questions in the next lecture. My TA, Caitlin, was wonderful and very accommodating to our questions and concerns. She was a fair grader and gave good feedback that we can use in the future. Discussion is weighed heavily, so make sure you talk and participate at least 3-4 times per discussion to gain full points. Overall, this is one of my favorite courses this semester and I strongly recommend it! |

Love this class!! Definitely helps that the TA is so nice and prepares us well for exams and papers, but we are given everything we need for the assessments. Nothing is a surprise, and everything that we are assessed on is explained thoroughly in class. Lectures are fine, not very boring but definitely only interesting if you like history/women's history. The reading is kind of a lot but she goes over everything in class without expecting everyone to already know what it is from the reading, so I wouldn't say it is 100% required. |

Professor Muncy is very passionate about history. She is a great teacher and very knowledgable. I would take another class that is taught by her. Her assigned readings are lengthy but are very interesting. |

Muncy is a great lecturer. She is SO passionate, and makes history interesting (well, as interesting as it can be). She was probably the best professor I've had this year. She's very likeable. However, do not take this class if you aren't serious about it, and it would help if you like history. I don't like history very much, and I thought this class sounded interesting enough so I signed up for the CORE requirement. Big mistake. I regret it. Although Muncy is great, there is a ridiculous amount of reading assigned for each lecture, and a good sized chapter of reading for discussion every week. Discussion is graded strictly, so if you're quiet it's a huge disadvantage. If you like to talk and you read the assigned reading, that will help you tons, discussion is a good chunk of your total grade. Two exams, one is 10% of the final grade, the other is 20%. She gives you the possible essay questions and terms you have to define a week beforehand, she randomly chooses an essay on exam day and 2-5 pre-chosen terms. All that is nice and fair in theory. However. While 3 possible exam choices was do-able for the midterm (3 detailed outlines to create), 5 possible questions for the final was...crazy. For me, at least. The questions are very broad, so it's a lot of information. And I don't know who reads every single assigned reading, not me, so I had to skim through it all for relevant information. Just so much to remember; I got so stressed. There is a 8-10 page magazine analysis. Like another reviewer said, not hard, but so time-consuming. And my TA said mine was well done but I still got a B. So I guess it depends on how hard your TA grades.. If you do not procrastinate, read everything, participate actively, overall just put A LOT of effort into this, I'm sure an A is possible. Just be forewarned, even if you put a good amount of work and really want an A, if you don't participate actively and really put time into exam preparation...good luck. I tried my best for an A, and I am a 4.0 Honors student (so far, there is a good chance I'll get a B in this class). |

she's a great professor...so enthusiastic! however her class is not a joke. not many assignments and they are graded strictly. you have to read a lot for the class especially the first semester (she covered most of the stuff from the readings in lecture second semester)...very long readings you had to do for discussion...and you basically have to participate the entire discussion to do well. 8-10 page paper that was not hard but SOOO time consuming. reconsider taking this class for a core. it was my hardest class |

She is so passionate about the subject that lectures were so much fun to go to. She knows what she's talking about and is so animated in teaching. Discussions were kind of annoying because you were supposed to read a (long) passage and come being able to discuss it. Your grade depended on how many times you contributed to the discussion, if you spoke once- D, if you spoke twice-C, and so on. But overall, I would definitely advise taking this class. |
