Dr. Rush had a rigid mindset that was obsessed with finding flaws and deficiencies in students' assignments. There was a distinct impression that their primary objective was to uncover faults in every submitted piece of work, completely disregarding the effort or potential demonstrated by the students. Also, she tends to speak at an excessively fast pace during lectures, making it difficult for students to grasp and process the information effectively. In addition, attendance is mandatory in this course, and participation grades are contingent on attending every single session, regardless of whether the absence is excused or not. Your participation grade is more important than each individual midterm and final exam. Overall, I would not recommend taking a course with this professor because of their harsh grading, boring lectures, attendance policy, and overly difficult exams.

She is very interested in the subject and is overall a great professor. That said the course is set up not in your favor... there are 2 books (oh and you better know all the intricate details of the characters) that she expects you to read along with the textbook, the other readings, notes on all of those, and all the other classes that you most likely take. With that, you also have to write about really unimportant things for the essays... you'll see when you take them. The exams aren't hard but you'll have to write an essay in an hour (actually less since you have to write a bunch of other long form answer questions before the essay), when she normally assigns them she tells you to start it a week before its due...

She is a good teacher and is obviously interested in her subject. She grades the papers fairly easy, I got an A, but the tests suck. She expects knowledge of specifics and we had to write essentially 6 pages in less than an hour.
