Truly an amazing professor and a sweet guy. He loves this class and you can tell he is super passionate about it. Very light workload too; there's weekly reflections that need to be like 100-300 words and mention examples from class, attendance is graded, and there are 4 big assignments. The first one is a journal, second is a midterm, third is a primary source analysis, then last is the final. Both the midterm and final exam consist of 3-4 parts, each part consisting of two different prompts to choose from. The first 3 parts are usually 300-400 words but the last one is 700-800 words that wants you to form a legit argument and essay. As long as you go to class and incorporate as MANY examples as you can (really, as MANY), you'll do fine. Only negative thing I would have to say about this class is he can run it a bit late, only like 1-3 minutes after it ends. However, if you need to leave just get up and go as I would have work immediately after class but he never seemed to mind (which wouldnt make sense anyways as class did end). Sometimes his grading is a bit weird and I think he could be a bit clearer with his instructions regarding what he wants to see in our essays. Overall though, great guy, amazing professor, and def take him!

Mr. Dorner is great! He was engaging and made the content interesting because he's quite passionate about it. Assignments are decently easy and leniently graded. Would totally recommend this class as a Gen Ed

Dr. Dorner is such a great professor. I don't usually like history, I was just taking it as a gen-ed, but he is so passionate about the topic and it made me want to learn it more. He is super chill and doesn't assign much work. There is a weekly reflection but it's super short and easy. A few bigger assignments throughout the year but they are not bad at all. Attendance is not mandatory but participation does count towards your grade so I recommend showing up, the lectures are not hard. Overall, recommend taking a class with Dr. Dorner, he is great.

He does take attendance but it'a easy class. If you need credit for graduation just take his class, no homework, just a 200 words reflection after class every week and 2 exam, very chill dude.
