I know there's a lot of not great reviews here but I really liked taking this class with Professor Guerrero. There is a lot of reading but if you skim it you should be fine. The class was interesting and I felt like she genuinely cared about her students and did a good job of listening to them and helping them to find resources when they needed it. I feel like you should have an interest in the topic she's teaching about though so the work is actually engaging for you or else you probably won't like it and should find an easier UH class. But honestly she was one of my favorite professors I've had so far. |

If you are trying to pick an easy honors cluster, I would not recommend taking this class. Dr. Guerrero makes you read multiple unnecessarily long readings each week with very specific quizzes for these readings. The grading for the weekly writing assignments are very nit-picky and comments from the TA do not have clear critiques on how to improve. Dr. Guerrero picks favorites in class and chooses to only call on very specific people in class that she seems to like. She grades very harshly on participation when her lectures in class are not really helpful majority of the time and are mostly just her talking at us. In addition, she takes very long to respond to emails that you have to send her multiple follow up emails, or ultimately just have to catch her at the end of class. In addition, her syllabus claimed that our final paper would be 5-6 pages and it ended up being 10-12. I would not recommend this class, as there is too many pages of reading a week and many papers that are hard to balance on top of other harder classes. |
