I found this course fairly easy. There is usually 1-2 readings a week that range from 10-40 pages, but if you do the reading and take a few notes on relevant details you’re set. I only attended the actual class a few times and finished with an A. The discussions are mandatory with participation points but the way activities are structured makes them easy to get. The papers are graded somewhat harsh but if you mention the key points from the reading you’ll do okay.

Not as bad as some people say, grading on quizzes and key questions can be rough, but the grading on midterms and papers were pretty lenient and good grade boosters for me; just make sure to connect important things from readings. Some of the readings are pdf's where you can't ctrl+f to find answers on quizzes, so you can find websites to turn the pdfs into copyable text pdfs so you can search for words. 20% of your grade is participation, GO TO EVERY DISCUSSION and its free points.

I feel like she did not really care about her students. She is passionate about what she teaches and you can tell by the way she talks in class. Pretty much all the grading comes from the TA's and the grading is pretty rough. The class is a lot of work for just a gen ed so if you dont like writing I would definitely not recommend taking this class considering the reading and writing amount.

Dr. Guerrero will warn you during the first 2 weeks of class during the add/drop period that this class is a lot of work. There's anywhere from 25-90 pages of reading a week however, it is almost a 300 level class so what can you expect. There's a weekly quiz over the reading which honestly if you do the reading, it will be easy. There was times however I didn't do the reading and still did well, the questions are extremely easy. You can literally command F in the reading bc she almost copy and pastes a sentence from the reading in the question. In addition, there is a key question assignment due most weeks over the reading where you'll answer 5 questions (same format each week). Your midterm and final are take home essays (not long, midterm was 4-6 pages and final was 2 pages). Participation is a grade but 90% comes from your discussion so GO!!! The biggest thing you'll be doing during the class is a group project where you will make an outline, write both a group and individual essay over the topic, and a podcast. She does have a nice rule where you can "fire" a group member if you and all other group members agree and the fired member will receive a penalty as well as having to do the entire group assignment themself. Truthfully, this class is not hard, but it is more work than your average gen ed (again, it is almost a 300 level class). However, the readings are actually extremely interesting and Guerrero's lectures are really good if you enjoy the topic. She doesn't drop anything but as long as you actually try, do the readings, and participate in discussion, you will get an A or at least pretty damn close. Don't take this class however if you're the type to not do the readings as it will bite you in the ass.

This is a horrible class. She gives way too much reading a week, usually around 40 pages. And the quizzes on the readings are way too specific for the amount of reading that had to be done. She is also a very harsh grader and picky on responses but is slow in giving feedback. Doesn't drop anything as she believes that if you don't do well on the quizzes it is your fault because you don't understand the reading, and not the fact that the questions are insanely specific and cover too much content.

Super knowledgeable, super kind, super understanding. Assignments are fairly straight-forward and graded fairly. The only downside is that there is a lot of readings, and they are typically long and dense.

Took this class with Dr. Guerrero in Spring '21. She is super passionate and a super-smart professor. Be prepared to do A LOT of DENSE reading. Chances are your class size for this course will be pretty small as well, be prepared to participate in discussion. As a humanities course, assessments/assignments are obviously writing-based; getting an A- and above in this course is non-trivial. If you put in the work, read the required readings, and contribute discussion you will be fine. My only complaint was that sometimes her prompts for essays/discussions posts were vague and hard to understand.
