Amazing teacher. Very understanding and will let you turn in assignments late. I didn't turn in any work for like 3 weeks and she still let me turn everything in at the end of the semester, which changed my grade from a D to an A-. She makes learning Italian very fun and easy, and the in-class activities make learning the language easier because of the practice. There's a bunch of weekly assignments from the online book that take a little time, but the quizzes and final exam are based on these assignments, so they're worth completing. She also lets you turn in corrections to missed questions on the quizzes for extra credit. She cares about every student and it's apparent. If you want to learn a language, take Gavagni, you won't regret it.

Professor Gavagni is actually the best professor and language teacher I have ever had. If you are deciding to take this class, please do it. You will not regret it. She actually cares about her students and goes above and beyond for everyone. She cares that everyone does well. I'm not the best at languages, but Professor Gavagni made Italian mean something more to me!

Professor Falvo is a great guy and very funny. His lectures are interesting if you're really into learning Italian, if not, then he is not the professor for you. Every class he will call on every student to answer the questions in the textbook in Italian, which is nerve wracking at first, but speaking a foreign language and messing up is the most efficient way to learn it. He is very lenient with late assignments. He does speak Italian kind of fast, but he will repeat himself slower if he knows you didn't understand him. Overall, Professor Falvo is a great guy and instructor, and I would've taken him for ITAL203 if it would have fit in my schedule.

Just a truly awesome professor and human. Is passionate about his country and wants to share it. He is very flexible about the grades he gives and caters to his students. All around a great guy.

Wonderful teacher. I learned a lot of Italian and the course was engaging and nicely taught. She is a very understanding professor and is willing to make time to work with students if you are having trouble with a certain chapter.

If you're willing to put in the time necessary, take Professoresa Deigan. Great personality, really nice and helpful professor. The class is hard though. Lots of memorization, which is necessary. I mean, it is a foreign language. Take her if you can!

She is a good teacher, and I learned a lot, but the course is very difficult and moves fast. That being said, it is a college language course, and that should be expected. The grading is fair, but it takes her a very long time to return tests and compositions. The worst part of this class is that you don't have any idea of the grade you have. I had to bother her incessantly to give me a current grade, and didn't get one until right before thanksgiving break, and even then it was just a percentage. Besides this, she is a very good teacher. When she says don't save the workbook for the last night, she's not lying. Also, the amount of crocheted clothing in her wardrobe is impressive. She is very sweet and understanding.

I am not surprised that I look up reviews for Deigan and all I see is 5-star reviews. I can't compare her to any other language instructor (since she is my only), but she is a great professor. She teaches straight out of the book and the quizzes and exams are very straight-forward. I suggest you go to class since it is in class that you can truly understand the concepts, and study before quizzes/exams. Obviously, if you actually learn and practice the language, you will do well.

I totally was not expecting an A+ because I had been doing great on the quizzes but mid-high Bs on the exams. I think Dr. Deigan is an amazing teacher and she is so so so nice and really funny! This class wasn't that hard at all and they definitely curved even though the syllabus said they don't, but I speak Spanish fluently and the other people in my class who spoke Spanish/ French definitely did better/ thought it was easier.

She is very dedicated to students learning italian, but she can be intimidating because she likes to say as much as possible in italian and I rarely understand. I really enjoy her class and I'm far from the best at italian.

She's nice but kind of hard. Participation is essential to doing well in the course. I didn't miss one day but still got a B.
