She is one of the best professors I have ever had. She truly cares about every student. The way she runs her class makes it easy to get a good grade, there's 3-4 homework assignments a night but they aren't hard and really helpful to learning the language. Her goal is for everyone to succeed. Meaning extra credit, quiz and test corrections, and more opportunities to boost your grade if you are slacking. She also makes the class engaging by playing games and always interacting with other students. 100% recommend her.

Professor Gavagni is THE BEST. I came from high school and middle school having rude and not very encouraging French teachers. I took French for 7 years and I don't think I would even consider myself 20% proficient in speaking it. One semester with Prof Gavagni and I feel my italian has improved tremendously. She may forget your name sometimes but she is so sweet, smart, energetic, and passionate about italian. She was my favorite professor this year. I think one of her best qualities is not being hard on students who struggle to understand course material. She'll laugh it off and work with you until you get it right. I think everyone in my class loved her as much as I did. The workload is light, she's not strict with attendance, and overall the class is pretty fun. Would definitely recommend!

I loved this class with Professoressa Deigan. I was coming into college with only a minor Italian knowledge from high school and she really helped me blossom into what I consider myself in partial fluency. She is a bit different from other professors in that her syllabus is very loosely structured and just decides to change things at certain times. But overal I highly recommend her as your professor for ital103 or ital203. I even decided to take another advanced level ital class with her this upcoming semester

Professor Deigan is great. If you put in the work and just study the book for ten minutes everyday, you'll get an A. She loves to give A's you just have to work a little for it. Also, she really hates it if you talk and be rude in class. Because I was polite, sat in the front, and always payed attention to her, she told me that she wanted me to redo a part of a test that I misunderstood the directions on. She did not have to do that at all, and she took her own personal time t do it. I would definitely take her class again if I could.

I give Amodeo a conditional 3 stars, because my situation is different from most others. I went on her study abroad in Genoa (where she's originally from) in January 2008, and then took this class Spring 2008, so she got to know me personally. I also live in the Italian cluster of the Language House, for which she is the Faculty Mentor, so you could say I'm one of her favorites. She is your typical crazy Italian grandmother: a funny and great person to know and be around, but could be better at teaching. For example, 203 is the second semester grammar course. Her lesson structure is nearly non-existant, and often flies by the wind. She expects students to do too much work, and does not realize the students' comprehension of Italian is much much lower than what she thinks it is. At times she seems to forget we all take other classes. That being said, if you are passionate about learning Italian, she'll like you, and you'll do fine. If you're only taking this class because of a requirement, I would find someone else.
