Special Topics in Italian Studies; Made in Italy: Fashion, Design and Art that Made a Nation's Brand

Gucci, Prada, Ferrari, Vespa, Loren, De Sica, they all sound familiar, and in one sentence, they all represent the so-called "Made in Italy." But what does "Made in Italy" represent? When did it become a symbol of Italian modern society? Through an overview of concepts such as Italianita, Mediterraneita, and artigianalita, the course investigates the processes at the core of the Italian modern creative industry that inform fashion, design, art, cinema, and more. The course makes use of awide range of multimedia resources, movies, and literary materials. It features guest lecturers from Italian businesses. Taught in English.
