Best professor on campus. I have had her for four semesters now and would take her again if I could. She cares so deeply for her students and genuinely wants them to succeed and grow as journalists. She will go above and beyond to help you out and makes her class as easy as possible, yet I learned a lot. If you are going to take JOUR360, take it with Alison

This is by far the best JOUR class I have taken at the university. The first month or so, I was worried. I was receiving lower-than-expected grades on assignments I spent long periods of time on, and I felt the professor was being picky. DON'T PANIC. If you pay attention to her comments and implement her suggestions in future assignments, you will see improvement. For that reason, it's important to keep a list of her comments. Even though we were learning new material throughout the year, I was rarely unhappy with my grades after that first month or so just because I didn't stumble into the same "beginner mistakes." Professor Feldman gives you 5 rewrites that you can apply to any normal story. I recommend taking advantage of these from the get-go, as, at least for me, grades were lowest at the start. While this class was a lot of work, I got so much out of it as someone who is interested in broadcast news. I feel like I will be using what I learned in future courses and career opportunities.

This class is pretty relaxed. If you put in moderate effort this class shouldn’t cause you any trouble. Burns is nice and gives plenty of time to make up work if you need it.

Feldman belittles her students and makes them feel as if they have no concept of broadcast writing when some of her students have been writing for years already. She is super flighty and will lecture about anything and everything unrelated to broadcast writing. Not very helpful as a leader, nothing like experience.

I have loved Professor Feldstein's class. Definitely a more difficult grader but he is always willing to adjust the syllabus and give you more time on any assignment if you ask for it. His experience in the field really contributes well to his teaching, and he is very patient and willing to spend more time than he allotted for to make sure we understand the material.

She's super awesome. She goes by Allison and not Mary and she still freelances for Cox Media Bureau. She brings in tons of stories from outside. She really cares about all of her students and is really good at helping you become a better writer. There is a ton of participation and sharing to the rest of class. We watch a lot of videos and almost all our writing assignments will have rewrites. She rules and is a great teacher.

She really takes the time to stress the various techniques and strategies you'll need to write for broadcast. You'll learn a lot doing the exercises from the CD, especially how to use ENPS. The current event quizzes, as they are in every JOUR class, are such a pain but that's not really her fault. The only things that wer truly annoying were the grammar questions where the answers usually didn't make sense and the only explanation for them was, "That's just the rule." She's also the most awesome person ever!
