This class will provide students with a foundational, historical and theoretical understanding of social media and social networks so they can better understand social medias implications on contemporary society, culture, communities and media. At the end of this course, students will have a strong understanding of the following: the evolution of social media platforms; social medias impact on society, culture and social change; the basics of social network analysis; social medias role in todays media and journalism landscape.
