Juan Diaz LACS234 Expecting an A Anonymous 11/10/2023	I took this course originally as a gened that I had no real interest in, but because it satisfied extra requirements. After a few weeks, this became one of my favorite classes. This professor studied literature, and you can tell he is passionate about it. Every class is formatted with some form of media that we discuss as a class, and he really tries to get the class thinking critically and outside the box. The class delves into deep rooted issues and topics that you wouldn't think would be the focus of the class at first glance, but it makes sense and it makes for an extremely interesting class. Attendance is semi mandatory, but he will make it so that you want to attend anyways. This professor clearly cares for his students learning, and for their well being. Many professors have not cared about my personal struggles at all, and Juan has made sure that I am doing ok and accommodated, even at times when I didn't need it or didn't ask.
Francisco Barrenechea LACS234 Expecting a B+ Anonymous 05/10/2023	class does require a lot of reading and writing, but if you are interested in the topic then it won't be so bad. professor is chill and the course readings/material are actually interesting. pretty strict on turning things in on time and attendance, but as long as you communicate that with him then it's fine.
Francisco Barrenechea LACS234 Expecting a B Anonymous 01/23/2023	really good professor. the class does have a lot of reading but (imo) they were all interesting and actually worth reading! really interesting topics discussed and a really down to earth professor. if you have a chance to take it, please consider it! you won’t regret it.
Carolina Sampo LACS234 Expecting a B Anonymous 12/19/2022	really easy gen-ed tbh, her class is very high maintenance so remember to read over the slides, she is one of those if you miss a class it's not a big deal you know bc she posts the slides. What I would say is please review slides when doing quizzes as she worlds the, very difficult and they are most of your grade. The midterm is very iffy because you have to write down a lot even with not a lot of material. As a person, she's super nice 5/5 and as a professor, I would give it a 3/5. Honestly dont expect a A, B is the highest you will get but also no lower than a C- .
Carolina Sampo LACS234 Anonymous 12/15/2022	The material we covered was interesting but very general as we were covering all of Latin America. The major issues are the professor lacks good communication on assignments, didn't want to give rubrics for assignments, and did not seem open to feedback for improvement. The quizzes are pretty simple but the graded assignments are not as her instructions were confusing. There is one midterm exam and the final is a project worth 40 percent of the grade.
Carolina Sampo LACS234 Anonymous 12/12/2022	Honestly she's a chill teacher, as a person she is really nice which is why I give her 3 stars. But as a teacher.... let's just say if you're not paying attention you won't really understand her accent and at the same time her grading is really not great. Also, make sure to make friends in her class to help each other out!
