MATH015 Expecting an A Anonymous 01/09/2025 |
Overall, he is a decent professor. If your highest level of math in high school was Trigonometry and Algebra 2 like myself, avoid taking this professor unless it’s your absolute last option, you have a solid grasp of mathematics and need to finish this requirement, or you are exceptionally disciplined. He has a structured schedule and course materials, making it easy to navigate the coursework. However, grasping the concepts without any prior knowledge can be challenging. The course I was enrolled in began with MATH015 and progressed to MATH115, but the coursework remained consistent, starting with a brief quiz before class accompanied by a homework assignment every 2-3 days during both sections; in MATH 115, there are 1-2 assignments weekly. Although the content is condensed into a 50-minute lecture, it is advisable to dedicate 1-2 hours of study time before class to develop a basic understanding and review the material learned in class. Always do the homework you're self it is a very useful tool. The classes primarily aim to inform you about the types of problems that will be on the midterm; if you analyze the practice problems closely, you’ll notice they are very similar to the midterm structure, so anticipate spending extra time outside of class to contextualize what you’ve learned. Achieving an A is quite challenging, but if I can do it, so can you |

MATH015 Expecting an A- Anonymous 07/14/2024 |
GREAT class to take to segue into MATH140 if you did meh on the placement exam. The professor is nice, but has an accent. It is much more of a review than learning math, which worked for me, but not for everyone. With room we were in it was also strangely difficult to see the board, as he writes on chalk throughout. I assume he is a better professor than the MATH113 teacher, which is part of the reason I took it. But, I did get a better grade in MATH140 than I got in this class. This is partly due to the final exam. We were left simply unprepared; nothing more to say. There was content on the final which I did not know how to deal with, even though he explicitly stated we were ready. I had a solid A throughout the class and got a B+ on the final. Ended with an A-. :( For all the bad, I was done with math in 2 semesters which is why rating is so high. |

MATH015 Anonymous 05/23/2022 |
I think Morgan would be a nice person outside of class, but in class, she did not seem to care very much. Whenever students would ask her a question, she would tell them to talk to another student who oftentimes, was just as lost as the student who asked the question. She provided good feedback on weekly practice problems, but overall seemed apathetic about teaching. |

Mr. Flynn is a class act. He is approachable and eager to help students with any problems. Classes consist of him going over a large number of examples daily, with occasional quizzes, which are tough but fair. You will need to attend to understand the material. It is a pity he doesn't teach any higher level courses. |
