MATH015 Expecting an A- Anonymous 07/14/2024 |
GREAT class to take to segue into MATH140 if you did meh on the placement exam. The professor is nice, but has an accent. It is much more of a review than learning math, which worked for me, but not for everyone. With room we were in it was also strangely difficult to see the board, as he writes on chalk throughout. I assume he is a better professor than the MATH113 teacher, which is part of the reason I took it. But, I did get a better grade in MATH140 than I got in this class. This is partly due to the final exam. We were left simply unprepared; nothing more to say. There was content on the final which I did not know how to deal with, even though he explicitly stated we were ready. I had a solid A throughout the class and got a B+ on the final. Ended with an A-. :( For all the bad, I was done with math in 2 semesters which is why rating is so high. |

This professor is definitely understanding when it comes to late work, failing tests, and curving grades but he is unfortunately not a good professor. Instead of teaching he just writes notes on the board, you copy it, and then class is over. He barely explains anything that’s on the board and is very unclear in his explanations of concepts. I had to teach myself this whole course and go to tutors when I could. If you need to take a class with him, prepare to teach yourself. |

Harsh grading and minimal effort teaching, do not recommend. Writes material on the board to be copies and that's literally the extent of what he does. |

This might be the worst professor I have ever seen. He writes the notes on the board, lets you write it down, and calls it a day. We would end class 30 minutes early every day... I would attempt to ask questions and be told he cannot help explain it because the material is on the take-home quiz. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. |

Decent professor overall. He operates with an organized schedule and course materials, so navigating the work isn't difficult. The course I took with him started as MATH015 and transitioned into MATH115, but the coursework was reasonable during both sections; 1-2 assignments every week. Although the way the material was presented was somewhat lack-luster, you can tell that he knows what he's talking about, and that he wants students to know too. The classes are informative, albeit a little fast-paced (especially if you're a slow note-taker like me), so you should expect to spend some time outside of class contextualizing the material. Although, the homework provides good opportunities to practice skills. Not difficult to earn an A, but you still have to work for it. |

Professor Ben is a good person but being a good person doesn’t correlate to being a good teacher. At times I did feel lost in class because he use to play videos of his zoom lectures from last year. But if you go up to him after class he will explain, so at least he is willing to help. I wish he did give us more material in class instead of just our class notes. I feel like he needs to improve his teaching style where he actually wants to teach the students instead of just showing us zoom lectures. Also important note for this class make sure you have friends that also take math 115 with you so y’all could study inna group. Overall I would rate my experience a 7/10. |

MATH120 Anonymous 12/09/2021 |
Completely unprofessional, rude, confrontational, and refuses to help his students even when they ask for help. In this week before the final exam, the majority of the class is failing and he has ignored our requests for review content. The only good thing I can think of is that he doesn't write or grade the final exam. Do not take this class with this professor, because it is easily the worst mistake I have made in my college career thus far. I have nothing but bad things to say about the professor and the class. |

Hands down the worst professor I've ever had. Completely unresponsive to questions, unwilling to explain in further detail, and expects you to come in already understanding concepts. Do NOT take this class if you haven't taken math since quarantine started. Personally, I would recommend you steer completely clear if at all possible. |

I do not recommend taking a class with this professor. He is very unresponsive to questions and does not clarify concepts that he is teaching at all. He often blames students for not being able to understand the work when he is at fault for poorly teaching concepts. He is also very passive-aggressive when you speak to him or ask for clarification on questions. The final exam was ridiculously difficult, did not have a curve, and caused many students to fail the class. Most of the time he teaches from the textbook and I sometimes think that he forgets he is teaching to a class. A positive I do have is that if you truly show that you are trying in the class and that you are a good student, he may give you a bump. Although it is possible to get an A, prepare to go through a tough semester to get it. |

MATH120 Anonymous 12/18/2020 |
overall nice professor, but when it comes to giving feedback on quizzes, or tests, or asking to further explain what you got wrong he won't give help. exams throughout the semester are weighted as more to your grade than the final. more preparation before hand in class would be preferred to ace the exams |

MATH120 Expecting a D+ Anonymous 01/21/2020 |
He is very poor when it comes to explaining concepts and often times is unwilling to answer questions. The few times he does answer, the response is brief and doesn't even resolve the problem. I took math 120 with him and found that it was much more of a review class due to his poor teaching skills and since I had not taken math 120 previously, I found myself struggling to understand the material. Do not take the class with him there are many other better professors. |

MATH010 Expecting a B Anonymous 12/10/2013 |
Hes a decent professor overall, but there are a number of things that are very annoying. For one, his accent is very hard to understand initially, so it might take a while to be able to easily understand him. He sometimes makes mistakes while teaching which the class would correct him on, but hes only human so that can be forgiven. But he also assigns points to problems on his quizzes and tests seemingly arbitrarily. For example, he would make one problem on one test worth 12 points but a very similar one would be worth 6 or 8 points. But this wouldnt be so bad if he was even somewhat forgiving when it came to partial credit, which he shows a poor track record of doing. For example, in a 2-part problem, I got 1/2 off because I rounded to hundredths, not tenths. That was the only thing wrong and I lost 4 points for that. He also emphasizes a lot on word problems, so if you are not good at word problems, you are in big trouble. |
