Amazing teacher, best on campus. A lot better than that Paul Koprowski guy.

Eric is the bomb. Take this class. He is so fun. And he teaches well. I had a 98% all semester and I'm usually not good at math

He's a really good teacher and interesting character. Probability is not the most interesting topic, but he tried to make it as engaging as possible. Its pretty easy class and Eric is a fairly easy grader.

Mrs. Jarchow was the best thing to happen freshman year! She was so sweet, had group quizzes, homework's were so easy, tests were a breeze, and maybe had to go to class once a week. Easy class, great teacher, i would take her in a second

I've always had issues with math but this is the man that changed that. He is an AMAZING professor. He doesn't assume that you know everything. He teaches at an elementary level without making you feel stupid which is just what I needed. He's also very entertaining. Enjoy this class

Bill Schildknecht is the man! He made the class really easy, which was surprising considering that I am horrible at math. Before each exam he would devote class to reviewing everything that would be tested, going through each type of problem in an in-depth manner. He also had optional review sessions outside of class that I would highly recommend, the exams closely followed the sample tests he provided. He was really good about answering any questions in lecture, and was very clear in his explanations. He was funny, entertaining, and very flamboyant, which made a very boring subject tolerable at such an early hour. Get this guy if you can.

From what I can tell, she is a great prof. Unfortunately I haven't been to lecture much because the material is insanely easy. But she is never condescending to her students and always makes sure every last question is answered.

As the other reviews stated she is the sweetest professor I have ever had. She provides any extra help all you have to do is ask. She would allow us to turn our homework in late if we didn't understand because she said it was better to grasp an understanding than to just get a grade. Most times she graded for completion anyways. If you have a choice take this class.

As the others here have said, she's very sweet and listens to what you have to say if you ask her stuff after class. She always ended class 5-10 minutes early in out lecture (dunno y). She makes the class simple and drops several quizzes so you have a chance for an easy A. Very lenient and teaches directly out of the book which is good because that's what you're tested on.

If this is an option for the CORE math requirement for your major, take this course. Professor Jarchow is the nicest woman in the world. She teaches straight out of the book, sure, but you have to be absolutely braindead to do poorly in this course. She will explain any problem you have, is very lenient with regard to homework and quizzes, and just makes the class very simple. The TA's don't do the best job of explaining the material, but the course is easy enough regardless.

She is one of the sweetest women I know... she really takes time with explaining the problems and she really does care about her students unlike some other professors. Take her class!!

I never did the hw and just reviewed the practice exam and got by. He is a great professor just go to class and u can learn from the problems he does on the board which sometimes end up on the test. I highly recommend him. We only had 3 test and a final as well as 10pt quiz in discussion which the 2 low grades get dropped. My TA was pretty nice as well carter price. TAKE HIM IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE OR GO ON WAIT LIST ITS WORTH IT!!!!

He is HILARIOUS and makes everything really easy to follow. At the finals review session, where students from all sections (and with different professors) came together, I heard them saying, "Why couldn't our professor have explained it like that? I just understood everything from the whole semester."

The class was pretty easy to begin with, but Dr. S. made it even easier. He explained things very clearly and you could tell he really wanted the students to be successful. He's also really funny and a very nice guy overall. Exams weren't too bad, and he even gives you sample exam problems from previous semesters. He doesn't try to trick you, but you might need to think a bit on a few problems here and there.

The best math professor at UMD. Not only is he hilarious but he really knows what he's talking about. He is an amazing teacher and goes out of his way to help students. I hate math, but I LOVED this class with him. I normally stuggle in math, but got an A. If you have to take a math or have to take Math111, try hard as hell to get into his class...he is amazing and makes the lectures fun and interesting. I would recommend him to everybody!!!!!

Jarchow is a really great professor -- she's clear and teaches really well, but she is also really lenient about turning in homework late and about doing make up exams and quizzes. She also let me take MATH111 when I had failed the diagnostic exam. If you fail the diagnostic DEFINITELY ask her to put you in the class anyway because she usually will and MATH111 had nothing to do with what was on the diagnostic exam. I'm terrible at math and I'm getting an A so that should tell you something. She's a good teacher and really easy to get an A from.

Wow... he's so hilarious, even when he's not trying to be funny. He's really flamboyant and so funny to listen to, which makes for a great math lecture. The class is easy, and he makes it even easier. He covers everything you need to know for exams and goes out of his way to help students. You take a weekly quiz in discussion, so the quiz is like an attendance grade. Easy A, and so amusing. TAs are usually nothing special, but you might get lucky. I recommend taking his class if you have to take 111.
