This class can be very frustrating because she does not show you the point values for the questions on the exam. It is really unclear how things are graded and why you got the grade that you did. Her explanations were confusing and I had to learn a lot of things on my own. She doesn't actually teach, she just has us work in groups and figure out how to do things.

Carolina is a great professor, she was very organized and always willing to help. I feel like the practice exams were nearly identical to the actual exams, so I'm confused by some of the other reviews. If you actually tried and put in effort to listen and learn, it was an amazing class, and I like that she allows students to share their ideas rather than lecturing. I would recommend her, but I do think the content of the course could be explained better at times.

Professor Carolina is super cute and sweet, but I really struggled in this class. The way she teaches the class is really different from ways we've been taught to learn before, and it can be pretty difficult to follow. The homework is graded for completion, however she tends to take off points for it anyway. The weekly quizzes can also be a little tricky at times. As for the exams, there are 3 midterms and a final. She supplied practice exams, but most times they didn't end up being very helpful in preparing for the exams. On the plus side, you do get a cheat sheet, front and back, where you can write anything that would be helpful. Honestly, if you don't struggle with math very much you should be fine taking it with her, but if you struggle I would recommend trying to take it with another instructor.

This class is enjoyable, but frustrating at times. I am a Special Education Track 2 major, which is required for my major. At the beginning of the semester, this class was very frustrating, but Professor Ziegler Zimmerman was super helpful as I began to ask more questions and go to office hours. You do need to put a good amount of studying and time into this class, but overall, it is not too hard if you stay on track with your homework, go to class, and ask questions when needed.

Carolina is a nice person. However, explanations are very confusing and I feel that exams are really difficult. The exams have nothing to do with the practice tests and overall, the content is really unclear. She is helpful and this class is doable if you attend office hours or ask questions. However, you are left to figure out a lot for yourself.

Carolina can be super nice, however, sometimes it feels as though she doesn't know how to do some of the units either and doesn't really show you the correct way to answer a problem. She doesn't really provide extra credit or ways to get your grade back up and can be super stingy with the homework grades. This class is much harder than anticipated so be weary she won't really help when you're struggling.

This class was actually enjoyable. I am an elementary education major and this was required for my major. At first, I struggled with the content but once I went to office hours, she really helped me learn and was eager to help me. I recommend going to her office hours when ypou dont understand. I went before every test and did very well on all three. There are 3 content exams and then a final but the exams are VERY similar to the review packets she gives you so make sure you know them well. You are allowed to have one double sided sheet for each test (even the final) so I used that to my advantage. She was super nice and understanding and wants you to succeed.

Luis is great! He is kind and you can tell he is genuinely passionate about all of his students succeeding. You don't need to worry about spending so much time doing work for this class, but you must go to class. There are three exams and a cumulative final, all of which you get a one-sided note sheet. He also allows test corrections. He is easily approachable and will work with you if you are having trouble. He also creates a relationship with everyone in his classes so you don't feel just like a person in his class, but also a student of his. MATH212 can be confusing, but it is also 100% doable! I really did enjoy being in his class, and I would suggest him to anyone taking it.

Luis is amazing. He is genuinely a kind and funny guy. He does care about everyone succeeding in this class. It can be a headache because he will continually ask you to explain your work until it's done thoroughly. However, the class is not too hard as long as you pay attention in class. He allows you to do test corrections for half of the points and is very willing to go over any problems that you are struggling with. I really did enjoy my time with him and suggest him to anyone who needs to take the class.

Pros: very engaging teaching style (lots of participation), clearly passionate about the subject, fair grading, good feedback, available thru office hours and email, you don't really need to use the textbook much (homework questions are posted) Cons: nothing big, just be aware that assignments on ELMS are often due at unusual times like noon or 5 pm

If you can take this class with Mike DO IT!!!! He is truly so passionate and willing to help. He is so attentive and willing to do anything so his students are successful. If you understand most of the math from elementary school, this class will be easy. Don't let the first lesson scare you. the base lesson is so hard during the first few lessons, but I promise the class gets easier from there!

Best Math Teacher I've ever had! This class is required for all Education Majors, but if you have any leeway, l highly recommend choosing her! She is so passionate and truly works so hard to make the class as fun and informative as possible. There are 4 exams (3 midterms and a cumulative final) which can seem a bit scary. But there are so many quizzes, homework, and EXTRA CREDIT to get your grade to where you want it!

She is super nice and really wants to help her students succeed. She is very passionate about the subject matter and answers any questions students may have. She posts a lot of resources to help you understand the material and gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. However, sometimes her explanations can be confusing and she says to do a lot of work and explanations for classwork/homework yet not to do so on the exams due to the time constraints.

Professor Kelly is the BEST! She makes the class fun and is always there to help out her students! I'm pretty sure she left UMD, BUT if she ever comes back please take her class you will not regret it!! Everything is straight forward and the content is easy, it's the same stuff you learned in elementary school. 10/10 take this class with her if you can!!

Math212 is the easiest class you will ever take. We go over addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, but we learn why we use certain algorithms to solve them. Some of it is interesting, but people tend to fall asleep in her classes because she has a very soothing voice. Not too many projects, but there is a quiz every Friday. The tests can be tricky if you have trouble explaining math.
