Terence is fair, lectures are organized, questions are well answered, overall if a teacher drinks one mountain dew per class you know they're going to be good.

Professor Long is the best teacher I have had so far at UMD. He is a really great math lecturer; his lectures are very engaging, well-prepared, and easy to understand. The class, MATH243, itself is very manageable. There is no mandatory homework, but we have optional textbook problems that are very helpful with keeping up with the content. We have two group MATLAB projects, the first one being pretty involved and the second being very easy. However, they are both free A's as long as you turn in completed work. There are discussion worksheets and quizzes, as well. The quizzes are pretty straightforward as long as you are keeping up with the course and the worksheets are a little more abstract, but never too complex. There are three midterm exams and a final exam, which are all pretty long, but straightforward. As a person, Professor Long is really nice, charismatic, and truly cares about students. I had a friend who bombed the first midterm because he didn't realize we had an exam and didn't study. When he went to Professor Long to tell him he was dropping the class, Professor Long motivated him and offered to drop the first exam and average the others if he improved in the future. Overall, the class is very fair and manageable with an appropriate amount of work, and Professor Long is definitely the best professor to take.

Professor Long is the best professor I have had so far at UMD. He is a really great math lecturer and always explains things very well with well-prepared lectures. The course material is very manageable to learn as long as you stay on top of the textbook practice problems. These homework problems are completely optional, but very helpful. Aside from that, the only other homeworks are two group MATLAB projects. The first one was pretty involved and the second one was really easy, but as long as you turn it in completed it's a free A. Discussion quizzes are very straightforward and discussion worksheets are pretty manageable. There were 3 midterm exams and 1 final exam, all of which weren't too bad as long as you knew the material. Exams tend to be pretty long, but straightforward. As a person, Professor Long is a really great guy and really cares about his students. I had a friend that did very poorly on the first midterm exam because he forgot it was that day an didn't study at all. He went to Professor Long to tell him he was dropping the class, and Professor Long motivated him, as well as offered to drop the first exam and average the other midterms so that his grade was truly representative of his knowledge. Overall, the class was very fair, didn't require a ton of work, and Professor Long was an amazing professor.

Professor Long is a very chill and interesting guy. He has an asian name but he's white, he always wears an anime t-shirt, shorts, and sandals even when its 25 degrees out in the mornings, and he goes on tangents about video games he used to play sometimes. I somewhat enjoyed his class because he's funny and stuff but some lectures he would go really fast and write a ton of stuff on the board that even trying to copy it all down took all my brainpower, much less understand it. After these lectures honestly I feel like everyone in the class would be confused. Also, a lot of the time I wouldn't fully understand a lot of the concepts particularly for linear algebra, as we would have to blast through concepts due to the speed of the course and Long wouldn't spend that much time explaining. It didn't really matter because you don't really need conceptual knowledge for Long's version of this course, but someone who wants to learn conceptually would likely have to teach themselves. Discussions for this class are either a pretty easy quiz or a graded worksheet that's take home (both of these should be free points lowkey) and sometimes a short lecture. The TA also makes what Long lectures about more concise during these times. For tests, Long gives sample exams that are basically the same as the actual thing though one time it was harder and had more questions. However, the final is remarkably similar to the one he gives. Overall Professor Long is really smart and interesting and doesn't make it that hard for you to succeed, though he does go very fast sometimes.

Doesn't do A- which is good. Class is hard because there are hardly any practice tests to take, but he's a decent professor.

good professor, homework isn't always related to lectures so can be a little confusing, quizzes are pretty easy, a little unorganized with when there are quizzes, worksheets, and the 2 matlab projects, exams are almost exactly the same format as practice exam he posts with a slightly higher difficulty, usually takes entire class to finish

He takes notes pretty fast and on a chalkboard board so you have to go to class, but the discussion was very helpful with simplifying what he was saying and giving practice, so go to all of those. There are some quizzes in discussion that they tell you about a week before, and are pretty easy. The midterms and finals were pretty packed with questions so I didn't have any time to go back and check my answers, so make sure to practice answering questions quick but they were fair and exactly like the textbook HWs.

Professor Long has been my favorite professor so far at UMD. His lectures were very good and he made sure you understood the content and got plenty of practice. His exams were also quite fair and very similar to the practice exams given. Highly recommend.

The exams are really fair in my opinion and the cutoffs are fairly reasonable.

Great lecturer who explains concepts and examples very clearly. TAs are also very helpful and expand on what you learn in class. The tests can be kind of tricky and usually have more difficult versions of problems than what is covered in class, but they are basically the exact same format as the practice exam so it's fair. Overall a great course.

Great professor, funny guy, cool class. I loved the combined diff eq/lin alg as a concept, it really shows you how they interact and keeps the class a little more interesting. Plus you don't have to take two classes. Highly recommend if you're Physics/Engineering. Professor Long can sometimes go a little too fast with his lectures and be hard to follow, but that's what the discussions are for. The combo of both was fine for me and I almost never went to the Monday lecture. His exams are reasonable and the practice exams give you a great idea of what concepts will be on the real exam so studying for them is pretty easy. He doesn't do homework so you do have to actually go to class but he does have recommended practice problems if you want them. Not having busywork/homework was very nice though. Overall a really enjoyable class.

Very fair tests. Releases practice exams which are the same format as exams. Overall class is not hard. Not good lecturer or teacher. TA basically would re-explain lecturer content every time. Didn't give us practice HW in textbook until the end of the semester. So basically had no practice. Gave up on going to lectures.
