Christine White MLAW358T Expecting an A Anonymous 01/20/2025	Professor White is so sweet and caring and I cannot emphasize that enough. She knows that her students may have a lot on their plate and is understanding when they miss class for illnesses, emergencies, etc. However, in terms of the actual course, this was one of the worst courses I have taken at UMD. The course is extremely unorganized and I feel like I didn't learn anything compared to the knowledge I had about human trafficking coming into this class. Professor White does not lecture and instead reads trivial facts off her very bare powerpoint slides. Most of the class instead revolves around class discussion, where she will ask questions and students are expected to respond. Also, there are many pointless "group assignments" where we individually research a specific article/webpage and read our notes to the class. The class itself does not consist of many assignments, besides a weekly discussion post and an occassional 3 page paper. No midterm or final exam. Instead, a 6-8 page prosecution memo is written in place of the final. Because there are few assignments, each of these take up a large portion of your grade with class participation being 25%. I would not recommend taking this class unless you have a strong interest in global affairs and enjoy engaging in class discussions. If you are looking for a lecture-based class where you will learn a lot of new information, this is not it.
Christine White MLAW358T Expecting an A Anonymous 12/23/2024	Professor White is a kind and approachable person in class, but her slow-paced lectures make it challenging to stay engaged. Additionally, she takes a considerable amount of time to grade assignments. As of today, the last day of the grading period, none of the four major assignments for this semester have been graded. This lack of feedback makes it difficult to gauge my standing in the class, address potential grading errors, or incorporate constructive feedback into future assignments. Furthermore, she is unresponsive to emails, which limits opportunities for communication and clarification. I think I will receive an A but I’m not sure at this point.
Christine White MLAW358T Expecting an A natisabal 12/13/2024	Prof White is super nice and engaging, most of the class is her asking us questions and students responding. However, this class was a bit disorganized. She has "post class wrap ups" which are basically short discussion posts that are pretty much randomly assigned, and some required citations and others didn't. Prof White is also terrible at posting grades in a timely manner. It is December and there are plenty of things that haven't been graded since September. I'm expecting an A but could be wrong lol. She is also very very hard to reach, has literally never responded to a single email and I've sent several.
Christine White MLAW358T Expecting an A Anonymous 05/14/2024	While I loved Professor White and the class material, I could not give a better rating of the course itself. The class was extremely disorganized and today (may of 2024) I have assignments in February that have not been graded as of yet. Also the TA for this class was horrible and extremely rude. She also grades extremely harsh! If the class was just Professor White, I feel I would have enjoyed the course more. I would avoid this class if you can.
Christine White MLAW358T Expecting an A Anonymous 05/07/2024	Professor White is nice..but that is the only good thing I can say about the course. The lectures are painfully boring, and there are no tests, if you have taken CCJS 325, you really do not need to take this course as there is a LOT of overlap. There are assignments from March that have not been graded yet (it's May.) There were times we were not getting any assignments at all. I understand personal reasons can interfere with class management, but communication could have been a bit better. Also, her TA Jessi Johnson is downright nasty and lied on a couple of students when they kindly requested an extension as she posted assignments as late as 11pm and expected them to be done in little time, and deleted a form of communication between students as a petty response. I understand this is a college level course, but timely posting of assignments should be standard, and if she is the TA for any course Professor White has in the future I would suggest you drop it. Worst assistant I have ever come across.
Christine White MLAW358T Expecting an A Anonymous 03/28/2023	very very interesting class. no exams or final. barely any assignments. you just genuinely learn about human trafficking and its super interesting. professor white is super nice and very accommodating. loved her she's great. this is a super super easy great class.

very very interesting class. no exams or final. barely any assignments. you just genuinely learn about human trafficking and its super interesting. professor white is super nice and very accommodating. loved her she's great. this is a super super easy great class.
