she is really nice. like super nice. she knows what its like to die a painful death of deadlines. super, super accommodating. her lectures were more open discussions based on the main unit covered, which are really fun. i didnt go to many of them because it was a 9am, but i never felt like it was a waste of my time. she said that she was really busy for finals week and extended the final paper deadline by half a week, huge W. anyway, the whole course is based on elms discussions and big papers. if you hate exams, this class is amazing. there IS a lot of reading so either do them on time or figure another way to learn the content (wink wink). you will be needed to form a lot of original thought and discuss at length in writing. just a teeny bit nitpicky on how you understand the philosophy.

He is a great teacher imo. Really interesting topic also. Looks at different philosophies of moral ethics. This class has a lot of discussion. There is not much work, just two essays and discussion posts. If you come to class and talk to him about your essays you'll be good.

Really enjoyed this class. The work load was pretty light. He makes you choose your own prompts for essays though, so it is a little difficult to figure out what to write about.

Jeremiah was a great professor. I definitely recommend taking his class. The only problem is you have to attend all the lectures because he writes all his notes on a chalk board so it's a bit old fashion. I wish he wrote a board so I could go on elms and review what was talked about in class. Overall though he is very helpful and thorough in his lectures.

I'm not saying that Professor Greenspan isn't bright or anything, but she is definitely one of the weak links in the philosophy department. Her lectures were incredibly boring, and loaded with her interpretations of the material rather than purely the material itself. She clearly had something against men. She regularly ignored their contributions and attempted to subtly belittle them while giving clear preferential treatment to the women of the class. Overall, would not recommend. Boring lectures, not great at conveying material, hard grading, bias toward students.

Professor Greenspan's lectures are dry, boring and incredibly verbose. She teaches the class as though she was giving a seminar to a classroom full of philosophy professors. She teaches from a power point that is posted online, so lectures are almost completely pointless. In order to get an A, you just need to follow slides at home and attend the weekly discussion section, which is a godsend. Despite the dry and boring lectures, however, Professor Greenspan is incredibly friendly and more than willing to try and help if you ask. She makes an honest attempt to learn names. Expect HEAVY reading for this course, with chapters of rather difficult reads assigned for each lecture: Hume, Kant, Mill, Rawls, etc. Lane, the TA, was funny, helpful and a fair grader. I thoroughly enjoyed discussion section. Perhaps the best aspect of this course is that the Professor avoids off-topic questions that some overzealous philosophy students seem to spew. Take this course as a Philosophy Major, but not as an elective or advanced core (its not as interesting as it seems.)

The only bad thing about this course was his idiotic TA. That woman is unbearable. Chris Ng. She was a complete moron. Luckily, I still ended up with an A in her course but I had to fight her the entire way. My God. Professor explained everything. Didn't nod on to whatever moronic thing some idiot said in the class. Would definitely give his opinion and straighten the kids out, but does so in a way that doesn't discourage the class from voicing their opinions in class. Ethical Theory was nice in general as well. Liked the writers chosen. Aristotle. Kant. Mill. Hume. Nietzsche.
