PHIL446 Expecting an A super_cool_student 05/13/2025 |
Kodie is very kind and understanding of students. I would say that I enjoyed the class. The first few weeks were standard lecture format, but it eventually developed into more of an open-ended discussion class, which I enjoyed a lot. This allowed us to explore a lot of controversial topics (e.g., torture, killing civilians during war, cyberwarfare, etc.) together and to see different people's logic! It was always cordial, but if it ever became too much, Kodie maintained control. This class is project/presentation heavy, so expect to work outside of class. There was like 1 small quiz, but other than that, there was no class exams. |

Professor: Hu (he says to refer to him as Hu) is good. He said that this class is not really something he's super passionate about and unrelated to his PhD studies, yet he does his best. His slides are good, he's *very* well spoken, and he's there if you need feedback in the class. I recommend him. Class: 446 is a nice class. It's nothing special; mandatory classes because participation is 20% of your grade, in-person discussions, weekly discussion posts that are not too much work except for the readings, 1 essay for the midterm, and 1 for the final. I'd recommend this class if you want to take it. Just don't expect anything mind blowing. TL;DR: Prof and class are good. If you want to take them, go for it. If you really don't like the content though at all, then avoid. Intrinsic motivation makes the class better. |
