PHIL453 Expecting an A Anonymous 01/11/2024 |
Amazing professor and great class. We had a mix of philosophy grad students, undergrads, and science undergrads in the course. It covered lots of interesting topics from theories of time and space to causation, probability, and systems of physical laws. The biggest component of the class was reading, which was a decent bit each week (usually one 20-30 page paper per class, which he uploads). Classes were basically big discussions maybe with a handout. Between this and the reading selection, even if you aren't used to reading dense philosophy, you'll be fine in this class. You are expected to participate, mainly by coming with a question everyday to help guide the discussion to see where people were confused etc. This semester it was online because there wasn't a room available, but it went well despite that. We had two essays (with corresponding oral exams to check you understood what you wrote etc) and a take-home final as the major components of our grade. Each of those was quite flexible. Grades were lenient. Professor Bhogal was happy to talk outside of class and excited to discuss ideas or questions he found interesting. |
