Easy and interesting class with an awesome professor. I would recommend it. Put at least some effort in and you'll get a B at minimum. My only complaint is that the grading was extremely slow. You don't know your grade until the end of the semester essentially.

Amazing professor and great class. We had a mix of philosophy grad students, undergrads, and science undergrads in the course. It covered lots of interesting topics from theories of time and space to causation, probability, and systems of physical laws. The biggest component of the class was reading, which was a decent bit each week (usually one 20-30 page paper per class, which he uploads). Classes were basically big discussions maybe with a handout. Between this and the reading selection, even if you aren't used to reading dense philosophy, you'll be fine in this class. You are expected to participate, mainly by coming with a question everyday to help guide the discussion to see where people were confused etc. This semester it was online because there wasn't a room available, but it went well despite that. We had two essays (with corresponding oral exams to check you understood what you wrote etc) and a take-home final as the major components of our grade. Each of those was quite flexible. Grades were lenient. Professor Bhogal was happy to talk outside of class and excited to discuss ideas or questions he found interesting.

The course content was super interesting, so I highly recommend taking the course even as a non-major. However, I think there are ways that it could be better. My main issue was the amount of content we covered and the amount of the class he actually spent lecturing. We spent 1 week of class just practicing for in class written assignments and another week actually doing those assignments (plus an extra class talking about the paper). The last 2 weeks of class were taken up by oral exams and review for the final. On top of this, we lose the first 10 minutes of every class because part of the participation grade is coming to class with a question about the reading (which was not productive since most of the questions were rather lazy, and he didn't really answer many). Sadly, because of all of this lecture time lost I feel like we did not cover as much, or go in depth as much, as we should have. On a positive note, his handouts are incredible. Probably the best handouts I've gotten in any class. Overall a good class to take but can be frustrating for a philosophy major who wants to get the most out of a very foundational and important class for a philosophy education.

Wish I could take more classes with him! A really good lecturer who makes the class interesting and engaging and explains things well. Listens to student feedback too.

Very chill professor. Makes lectures interesting. Only a few short writing assignments throughout the semester, plus a final appear and a final exam. Exam was east, but the final paper definitely should be taken seriously. I recommend taking this class to fill a humanities.

Love this class. It may be a bit hard to get an A because there are very few categories but he gives you a lot of chances to do well. The class grade is broken down into 20% for participation, 20% for first paper, 40% for second paper, and 20% for the final. For participation, talking a few times in class is enough for an A and I personally talked a lot more so I do not know the threshold for an A vs. an A- or lower but it is wise to at least contribute a few times a week to be very safe. For first and second paper, he gives you a chance to revise the paper twice meaning you submit is once, he gives comments and a grade. You can edit it and submit again for more comments and a grade and then do this again, one last time. This means 2 revisions for both papers, 4 total which is very generous. The final was also not too bad so fairly easy to get an A. Overall, he's a wonderful professor and you will enjoy every class, guaranteed. Take this class or any other class with him if you get a chance, you will not regret it.

An absolutely amazing professor. He was knowledgeable and his lectures were really interesting, but most importantly he was the most understanding professor I have ever had. He was really kind and flexible, especially about assignment deadlines, and even built in some time in the syllabus for review days (or just having a class off once in a while to reduce stress). Overall, I would highly recommend taking a class with him if you get a chance.

The class itself is pretty moderate, But Harjit himself is a person you'll enjoy hearing lectures from. I understand why he would give a 20% participation grade to the class. But it's very worth your time participating, since his lectures are very interesting and understandable. You can't go wrong with Harjit, this guy is like your Doctor Strange in the philosophy world.
