This class is incredibly easy. I would compare it to a high school civics class, but I think that was more difficult. Dr. Joyce is a kind man, and doesn't ask too much of us. I'm not saying don't take the class with him, because you absolutely will get an A. But this is probably the most dull class I've ever taken at UMD. |

As a professor, Joyce is very charismatic. The class is full of yappers who want to sound smarter than one another, which makes it a bit unbearable. Discussion posts are easy and you only need to complete 12 of them (there's 2 a week). Attendance in class is taken, but if you dont go just have someone sign for you. Study guide for the final is 6 prompts and 3 of them will be on the actual test (you just dont know which ones). This structure is similar to that of the midterm. His sense of humor is very inviting and makes you feel comfortable. Can't complain much except for the people that talk like they're writing a PH. D. thesis. |

Took this class for the gen-ed not realizing its actually a plcy major requirement, but I ended up loving it. Dr. Joyce is so interesting and the class discussions ended up being really entertaining. The 75 minutes would fly by. I felt like the weekly ready assignments were a lot but you could get away with not completely doing them. Dr. Joyce was also funny and actually cared about what students had to say. I would definitely recommend Dr. Joyce. |

10/10 professor. He's super nice and accommodating. We only had to complete 12 out of the 20 or so assignments for the semester. They were easy, and you get 100% as long as you follow the directions. There were about 3 essays as well that were very easy and straightforward. The class mostly consisted of discussions that were engaging and fun. |

King. Absolute king. Not only is he the sweetest man ever, he also does a great job running a large lecture. There is a ton of class involvement and chances to participate, and the lectures are genuinely interesting. The assignments are fairly simple, and I had no problems with grading. He clearly values student opinions greatly, and makes everyone in the class feel heard and seen. |

Very good professor who is genuinely interested in hearing students' opinions on discussion questions. Homework is kind of lengthy with readings and a question to answer, but you only have to do 12/20 to get full credit on the homework grade. There are a few papers, a midterm, and a final that are not very hard and graded easily. He gives you a study guide with the exact terms/questions that will be on the exam. He takes attendance in every class for the participation grade. Definitely recommend taking this class as it's interesting and pretty easy to get a good grade in. |

Dr. Ramsay is a very sweet man - grandpa vibes. I had him in Spring 2023. However, unfortunately, his lectures and class are incredibly boring. His class is an easy A almost all of his quizzes are found online (this is why everyone likes the class). Most of the class did not attend lectures because the class was easy and boring. He is nice but old. |

Ramsay is genuinely the nicest professor I have ever had. His TA's take attendance in discussion, but there his no attendance for lecture and he posts the notes. I never had to use the book for the class and I never really did the readings either and I still got an A+. There are a few big assignments and an online/open book exam. Ramsay takes the time to grade your paper himself and leave comments. He is extremely knowledgeable, yet approachable and will definitely work with you if you need help. |

This guy is so sweet but unfortunately his classes are SO boring. He literally just reads off the slides for 50 minutes. Still go to lecture though because he gets sad if no one does. I would recommend doing the readings because he chooses really interesting ones that are super relevant to the topic. The class isn't hard at all, a midterm and a final that are all found in the slides, and a final brief that's structured so its not too much work. |

my favorite teacher in my academic career so far. He is beyond intelligent to the point where he can set aside his emotions and values. He simply educates everyone in the conversation, others and himself. Just show up to class and have an hour long conversation in an intellectual and safe environment. I have never been interested in politics or government related subjects, I didn't even know what the class was about when I showed up the first day. This ended up being my favorite class because how engaging professor Feehan is. |

Trust me when I tell you he is the sweetest guy. He is so understanding of students and more than willing to accommodate each and every one of them. He does an excellent job of grading and it is very fair. The way the final policy brief is structured is so that by the time it is already due, the majority of it is finished. He understands how students work, and using this structure made the entire assignment more approachable. Seriously, he has a good vibe. |

Great professor. Weekly readings are not that bad because he goes over the content in class. Class is more like a discussion than a lecture with lots of student participation and engagement (so not just talking at you). He has a sense of humor and often makes self-deprecating jokes. A few short papers, mid-term, and final are the only assignments. He gives you a study guide for the exams which is really helpful. Responsive to email and understanding of student circumstances. Would take another class with him. |

Professor Feehan is the sweetest! He cares about his students and tries to make sure lectures are enjoyable. There were weekly discussion posts (doable), one paper, one midterm, a group presentation, and a final. Attend class and you will pass! |

LTC F is one of my favorite professors at UMD so far. He clearly wants us to be successful with how he reviews for exams and gives really few assignments. He just wants people to show up but won't hold it against you if you don't. As long as you show face every so often and participate to the point that he knows your name, you're solid. But what I love most is his teaching style. He's funny, sarcastic, and a little snide. He sometimes pushes you but never in an aggressive or embarrassing way. And he's super engaging. Even though this class material is super basic, he makes it my favorite course this semester. |

The four stars are mainly for the class content. It is kind of boring and the reason is, is that professor Ramsay stands at the front of the classroom and literally reads off each slides for 45 minutes. So if you do attend lectures, it can get pretty boring. However, he does post all his slides online, and the midterm and final are all based off the slides (and online) so they are easy. There are two papers in this class and a group project, but if you put in the work, you are bound to get an A. I do really recommend going to lecture often, and participating in discussion because he does participation grades that at the end of the semester are out of 150 points, and getting a low grade on that can mess with your average. Also, go to discussion because the TAs take attendance. Additionally, only Professor Ramsay does the grading, not the TAs. Overall, this is not the most interesting of classes although, it is a great class to get a good grade in. |

My favorite professor at UMD. You will never be bored in any of his classes. He will make you think, and question what you think you know. You'll also laugh a lot. |

Super sweet professor!!! he's so nice and genuinely cares about his students! he posts all of the lectures online and the exams are only based on the lectures so you don't really need to go to lecture but you should because he gets sad when people don't. you do need to go to discussion because they take attendance but i had julian and he's super cool and laid back. there are 2 essays 1 exam and the final. the essays are grades easily and fair. don't need to read the textbook really. |
