PSYC489A Expecting an A+ Anonymous 12/13/2025 |
Dr. Shackman is super nice, super understanding, and loves talking about emotion. I took this class as a Neuroscience track course for the BC track. It was a really interesting elective and it's very easy to do well in the class as long as you take consistent notes (which i enjoyed since the material was interesting), and pay attention to the jeopardy questions. He's nice in office hours too. He makes exams really doable and provides a really helpful resource for each exam, like a study guide that's super similar to what you'll see. Also, his exams are online, asych, and open-note. Really chill guy who just wants you to learn. |

Dr. Shackman is a rare professor to come across who actually cares about his students. You can tell how much passion he has for his work, and how much he wants to teach students about his field. His lectures are extremely engaging, and you will do well on the assignments if you at least skim the readings. He is also helpful for when you are experiencing issues with the class, and will do his best to resolve issues. I am not a student who enjoys the biological aspects of psychology, but this class was very engaging and interesting. |
