Before I start, I think it's important to clarify that SLLC499D had 6 professors teaching it. My assignments weren't graded by Dr. Frisch (they were graded by another professor) so my feedback is limited to her lecturing and the persona she portrayed in class. For what it's worth, I heard that she reported lower grades to the registrar than what some students earned on Canvas simply because, holistically, she just didn't feel that they deserved [insert higher grade earned here]. So, as an example, if you had a B+ in the class according to the syllabus, Dr. Frisch would take the liberty to report your grade as a B to the registrar simply because in hindsight she overall didn't feel like your work was at a B+ level. If this was mentioned in the syllabus, fine. But it wasn't. I would consider this an abuse of authority that is sensitive to bias on if she likes a student or not. Now, Dr. Frisch is very knowledgeable, but incredibly condescending. She has no issues interrupting your presentation to give you direct feedback and laughing while she does it. She'll also turn to the rest of the class in sharing this feedback with you, making it feel or look like she's gossiping with the gals (ie your classmates) as she does so. Luckily she never did this to me, but I felt secondhand shame watching it happen to others. In sum- Very, very smart. I can't rate her any higher than 2 stars because of her attitude/negative treatment of students. |
