Anyone saying that there is "too much work" or "he grades weird" is just lying or lazy. There was not even close to a lot of work in any of the classes I have taken with him and all of the information was comprehensive and interesting. He is funny, kind, caring, and charismatic. The only thing I could criticize is that he needs to loosen up, he is a new professor here so it makes sense for him to be a bit stressed. However, he does seem a bit tense even though he is genuinely an enjoyable professor!

the sweetest professor i could ask for!! she asks for feedback and actually listens to our opinions and actively changes things in the curriculum based on it. exams were basically open note and we had a weekly(ish) op ed post which werent too difficult bc u could find a lot of the info in the readings. there were a lot of readings but i never actually read them all i j skimmed for answers. i loved the in class discussions and the prompts she gave us but the group work felt kinda pointless sometimes. overall i found the class v interesting and loved having her as my professor

one of the sweetest women/professors i've ever had, extremely personable and really tried to get to know her students. the content of the course was super interesting and she explained everything very well. the exams weren't too hard at all, and the final was a paper which she gave a lot of lenience with. i loved her and this course so much!

Pros: -Incredibly kind and understanding professor, quick to respond to emails -Extremely interesting and enlightening readings/course material -Easy and fairly quick homeworks (basically 10 250-word responses; I never received under a 100%) -Exams are easy and open-note to some extent Cons: -Lecture style was not great. The slides are not especially entertaining, and the in-class activities where people work in randomly-assigned groups consistently ended up being like 2 people out of the group doing all the work. Now, I fault this class being a convenient Double Gen-Ed class for people's lack of interest more than I fault the professor, but there probably could have been a better method to generate engagement than this. -Really did not like the exams. The multiple choice sections felt like they were testing us on technicalities rather than some of the big concepts.

Professor Adem is one of the best professors I've had yet! My class was her first at UMD, so there were a lot of growing pains but I really enjoy her style of teaching. She's energetic and does a great job at getting everyone involved, so if you don't like that then she isn't the best professor for you. She does a great job managing such difficult topics, making sure everyone knows that their opinion is okay to share with the class. This class has an op-ed each week (roughly 200 words) with two exams and a final paper. She is extremely open to making sure due dates and criteria is flexible for everyone and will have open conversation about said deadlines with the whole class to hear our opinions. I took this class for the gen-ed credit, so I didn't purchase to book(s), yet I was still able to achieve an A.

Good teaching, very funny. Workload is manageable and easy. Classes are straightforward and interesting. If you come to class, the class will be very easy.

Best professor ever!!!! All we did in this class was watch the Boondocks and talk about it.
